Should mothers breast-feed their children?

The benefits of breastfeeding far outweigh any trite inconvenience. I am honored to have breastfed both my kids (soon my 3rd). It is best.

I did not breast feed because I was working full time and I simply did not want to. If Mom isn't happy, how can Baby be happy?

It's absolutely the mother's choice, but to suggest that breastfeeding is somehow "keeping women down" is ludicrous.

What is the definition of a good mother? I would think one who makes the healthiest choices for her children.

First off, this question is stupid. If they can and want to then they should, but not forced. Give BFing moms their RIGHTS in public!

If the mother is healthy and can breastfeed, she should. It's certainly better than all those bottles that need to be sterilized.

People, WAKE UP, the pharmaceutical companies want you to believe it is bad. It is a conspiracy, trust Mother Nature. BF is BEST

There ought to be no pressure. While breast-feeding is probably better for some, it may not be if it does not work for some mothers.

who cares if it's the milk or the act of giving it? And what about the decreased risk of female cancers for the mother?

I think ideally mothers should try it. Then we all need to decide what works best for our families. No guilt one way or the other.

Whenever possible anyway (healthier, cheaper usually). Dads should be helping out too - do laundry, wash dishes & breast pump accessories.

BF is a choice for Moms. Let's be supportive of each other and do what is best for the family.

It a personal decision. It is preferred, but I do know several mothers who simply couldn't and they shouldn't be penalized for it.

It's simple. Breastfeed if you can and want to. When life gets too crazy and it's too much, stop. Unhappy mom = unhappy baby/husband/home

I know formula fed kids who are never sick. I know brest fed kids with terrible food alergies. Health depends on 100 different factors.

Dislike the question--give women opportunity to have a choice by protecting the right to breastfeed or pump; don't attack women's choices.
