Whether or not you are Christian or agree with her, she is supposed to represent California, not Christian California or Gay California. Her parents let her pose nude at 17?? Fake boobs, nude photos, parading around on national TV in a bikini...but SHE can speak for the moral values of my community? I think not. She was selected for beauty and poise, not hired to teach the rest of us how to behave ethically. She needs to do the job she signed up for (which would be ethical) instead of trying to use the platform given her for her own personal agenda (which would be a form of theft).

I am a happily married straight person who is not in the least threatened by gay marriage. My marriage doesn't need "protecting" by her or anyone else and I find it insulting and patronizing to hear that touted as the reason for blatant discrimination. As a resident of California, it's offensive that she is using her secular position of Miss California exclusively to try and advance her personal religious views that are not shared by all Californians.

I want freedom of religion. I want the freedom to choose my own religion and to live according to it's beliefs. you are right in some respects. first of all if you say she didn't become a beauty contestant to represent Christianity or Gay rights, then the question should not have been allowed. she didn't pose the question or initiate the discussion. she was asked a question that she answered truthfully. she was asked what she tought about gay marriage and so the window was opened for her honest answer of what she thought about it. if people don't like the response they shouldn't ask the question. that's not forcing your opinion or belief on anyone else, that's simply answering a question that you were asked.

All the contestants were asked questions, that had some political implications The other state's contestants haven't abandoned their duties to campaign on their personal issues. She answered truthfully, but her truth was still exclusionary, discriminatory and hurtful. She got some feedback for that and rather than take a moment to see how she could have remained true to her beliefs without hurting others, she decided to make it her life's work to drive the wedge deeper.

When someone accepts a PUBLIC office or position then they are supposed to represent ALL of the people in their district. Miss CA is public, paid for with public funds and she has no right to use it for a platform for her personal and divisive agenda. As a judge your suppose to look at how they handled the question, not necessarily if you agree with how they responded. And I AGREE with gay-marriage. I have recently changed my opinion of gay marriage because if these people are allowed to marry it would get rid of the problem. They will still do what they do and I believe they were born gay. BUT - cursing - committing adultery - lying, etc. are sins and we don't see such a controversy in the media or in the churches about those sins. Why single out one sin. Could it be because everyone commits at least one or more of these sins? And when will the preachers tell people that they themselves want to go to Heaven when they die so they (the preachers) will give their millions of dollars to the poor? That would be a good day.

A SMART answer would have been something along the lines of: "I think that it's up to each state to decide whether same sex marriage is legal within their state." Or, "I think that everyone is entitled to his or her own opinions and moral beliefs about the subject, but ultimately, we have to abide by the laws of the state we are in."

The whole point of these interview sessions is for the judges to see how capable of dealing with difficult questions a contestant is when asked during one of the many interviews she will undergo during her reign It's called "tact" and "thinking on your feet." The point of asking question imho, is to be able to judge how well a contestant once in the role would react to 'political' or 'other' controversial subjects...'thinking on their feet' so to speak...

I say again, beauty pagent judges deliberately ask questions that put the contesttants under pressure to see how tactful they can be. Miss California flunked through no one's fault but her own.

Since Hilton discriminates, I just sent an email to the Miss USA pageant and asked them to stop hiring gay judges in the future - because of Perez Hilton.

Just because Perez happened to be Gay and asked the question, doesn't mean every other Gay person would do the same. Not hiring someone for something like judging because they are gay would be discrimination. It's fair to say maybe people will stop hiring Perez if they disagree with how he questions people, but it's not fair to ignore an entire group of people just because of him.

That's like saying if one Asian judge were to ask a controversial question, then there should be no more Asian judges... Which obviously wouldn't be fair at all. A persons personal background whether they're White, Black, Gay, Straight, Male or Female, should not have a role in who's legit to judge.

Christianity is based on love and bigotry is based on hate. God does not hate gay people. In fact, he sent his son to die for them because he loved them so much. God does say that He made man and woman to be together. But you know what. He does not just speak against homosexuality. He speaks against pre- marital sex, extra marital sex. God forgives the murderer also. According to God, if you broke one law you broke them all, that's why He had to send His Son. Sin is sin, we are the ones who put degrees to sin. No matter what sin you commit, it takes faith in what Christ did to redeem you from it. That's what is so great about God. I can't judge a homosexual or a murderer because I have commited my share of sin. All I can do is judge myself and work on me and thank God for His grace and forgiveness. Just becaue we like something a lot (the same sex or the opposite sex but not married, alcohol, whatever!!!) it does not mean we can justify it and then get angry at God or belivers of God's Word and call them bigots. Christians belive in the Word of God and that's what we have to live by. And in love, we try to tell other's of God's love and forgiveness. I know that God has been horidly misrepresented. Treacherous things have been done and said in the name of God but that does not mean it was God. God is love. He does have standards though and He not only asks us to live by them but He helps us, by His Spirit, to do the best we can. And because He knows it is difficult, He is willing to forgive every mess up... as long as we admit and not justify our wrong! His love does not give us the free will to be disobedient to His Word.

*My personal belief is gay couples have rights to “marry” since my belief is also that love knows no gender or sexual preference. There have been times when I waver on the word “marriage’ as I always see the ‘word’ as meaning the sanctity of man and woman entering into union due to being able to have children, and have sometimes wondered that there possibly could be another ‘term’ for the union of gays – perhaps? It is purely a linguistically challenged/non-religious thing for me as I am not religious myself but spiritual. What disgusted me is how gay Perez Hilton handled Miss California expressing her opinion. While she handled herself with grace and dignity, he stooped to an all-time low. Perez Hilton acted like a teenager who can't handle anyone else expressing his or her opinion that is different from his, god forbid. He stooped so low as to call her derogatory names.

Therefore, this "politically correct" homosexual can degrade a woman by using derogatory slang for a woman's vagina, and it is okay? I think not. It is no secret most homosexual men dislike woman, as do most transgendered men that dress and "mimic" women.

While I am supportive of gays living any lifestyle they choose, and I am bisexual myself and as a result take invested interest in this issue, I do not endorse gender hatred of any kind and feel sickened when gay men feel it is okay to upraise their hatred of women, and frankly, I am sick to off about it. Nobody says a peep, many women support homosexual rights, yet many women never bring this issue up.

That is according to your beliefs not Miss California and mine. We have a relationship with a specific God who says he created woman for man. She should not be penalized because her beliefs are what they are just as you shouldn't for what your beliefs are. If Perez wanted a neutral answer he should have asked a neutral question. There is no Neutral in Christianity on some matters. Either you are for God or against him. We are to love everyone, no matter the sin in their lives as we have sinned and are sure to sin again. God loves everyone but that does not mean that we are free to do whatever we desire. I must repent of my sins and turn from them by his Spirit that lives within me. That does not mean I won't mess up again, but it is not my goal to mess up and I am not fighting for the right to mess up. For example, if someone is gay, he or she may desire to be with the same sex as a heterosexual desires to be with the opposite sex. Each has it's limitations in God! So if the homosexual wants to come to Christ, all he or she has to do is admit it is a sin and accept Christ as their savior. God will put His Spirit in him/her to help him resist the sin. (the same with the adulterer or the fornicator) If he/ she messes up, God will forgive. But he/ she cannot take advantage of God's grace and justify his/her wrong. You would be amazed at the desires God can take away as he has taken many away from me.

You know there are ample number of people that are women and/or men traped inside the wrong body. This is infact a known and understood physiological condition that can be corrected. You've misunderstood all I've said. God welcomes everyone but everyone does not welcome God. It is clearly stated in the Word of God in Romans 10:9 what it takes to be saved. As I said before, I know God has been grossly misrepresented and that's why I rely on exactly what His Word says. I did not speak of people in the wrong body. I can't say, either here or there, if someone is born one way or not. I do know that everyone who is gay does not desire to be the opposite sex, they just want to be with the opposite sex. We were discussing homosexuals not trans-genders which are not synonymous. I also know that there are gay people who will clearly tell you it was a choice for them. But I can believe, just as someone is born blind, that they can be born gay. When Adam sinned, God's plan for man was put off course. As I said, I love everybody as Christ does. When I talk to my homosexual students, I don't condemn them to hell. I tell them that God loves them and what His Son did for them. And I also tell them that he has some rules that we all must follow. I talk to them because I love them. And guess what, I don't just focus on their homosexuality, I talk about all of their sins. California voted against gay marriage, so in actuality she is supporting the views of the majority of voters that agree that marriage should be between a man and a woman. Let's not forget that he asked for her OPINION and why she believes that way. She ANSWERED his question. In his video blog he didn't even know who actually won. He said South Carolina and then North Carolina and then said it didn't matter which Carolina. He is supposed to be a judge and he doesn't know who won? I don't think he was voting for a Miss USA but rather only focused on not voting for Miss California.

If Miss California came so close to winning it meant that the other judges favored Miss California over the other contestants. I believe she would have won if Hilton was not a judge as everyone knows he gave her the lowest scores possible in every area.

I think the scores should be reviewed. If Hilton was to give her a low score then it should only be on the interview part. I'm sure if Hilton's scores for Miss California are examined you'll find Hilton gave Miss California the lowest scores possible in every category, not just the interview part.

Hilton, you have to respect the majority of people who believe marriage is between a man and a woman. Hilton needs to be tolerant of people who don't believe or even want gay marriage legal.

Perez Hilton didn't ask her point blank whether she supported same-sex marriage, what he said was "Vermont recently became the fourth state to legalize same-sex marriage. Do you think every state should follow suit? Why or why not?" She could have thrown the question back in his face by answering:

Do I think each state should do what Vermont did and face this difficult issue head on by going through a democratic process of public debate and popular vote? You betcha. As to why or why not, I think that is the wrong question to ask. I believe democracy is NEVER optional. Brave men and women are risking their lives overseas this very minute to protect our freedoms, so as long as Americans have the ability to make their opinions count by casting a ballot, they should take that privilege seriously no matter how big or small the issue may be.
