Why not. People gathered for a special event. Why not at least enjoy people coming together... turn it into a party. Turn it from a memory of being jilted into a wonderful party of just having some fun.

If the chef (her fiancee) cancelled at the last minute (or several hours before) there would be no time to plan for anything else. I'd say ABSOLUTELY go ahead and at least enjoy the people who were there to celebrate and send the bill to HIM!

Yes, she should go ahead with the reception for many reasons buthere are some basic ones : all of the guests have put forth the effort to come locally and out of town, everything to do with the wedding is already past the refundable stage so why let it all go to waste, and also it gives her a chance to have people who loves and care about her around her for support on what was probably a very devastating day.

My guess in a normal situation is the Bride or the Brides family is paying for the reception anyways. Why not have some fun during a not so fun evening and create some positive memories with friends that have gathered. Others can leave if they would like I would think and why have all of the food and the location costs go to waste if you have to pay for them anyway.

Absolutely!! Have the maid of honor get your after wedding outfit, get out of the gown and party down. A consultation from your Mother/Father/wedding party to help with the quick jilt and give you the attitude adjustment you need to look to the positive. Go out there, laugh, smile and dance like no one is watching!

Might as well find the silver lining in that cloud! And if it was only hours before hand, I really doubt they would have gotten any money back, so why not make the best of a bad situation! I admire her, lots of people would not have the guts to do something like that

somehow ...when wedding day arrives and their hasn't been an active communication with her man........say's there is something wrong here.......maybe he wasn't forthright to spell it out...and maybe he was having a change of heart or just the jitters.......either way the wedding is either cancelled or ???? you have a great party with the wedding guests...in hopes of what?...her man will want to come to the party to get his money's worth????how far in advance of the wedding day were the first signs of a problem????? why didn't Erica show up at his work to discuss what happens here or he should have said i'm not sure..........

She might as well. At that late hour the party's already paid for, and she can't get the money back.

Why let the food and entertainment go to waste. She will never get a refund for those things. My guess is that family and friends came in from all over to be there. Good not to disappoint. Celebrate not making a huge and more costly future mistake! I know the embarrassment and if she has it in her to face the attendees, party on!

Good taste has nothing to do with it. He had the nerve to cancel at that late date, he has nothing to say about it, and if she can deal with it, go for it!!

She should CEL-A-BRATE that she didn't marry him. Besides, what kind of a guy would leave her hours before? Run away Groom? I would send the bill to him and I would make sure that the caterers added a few more cases of bubbely for everyone to take home a bottle too. If she were my daughter - the S.O.B. had better be IN the Marine Corps within 48 hours or the Gammino Brothers moving crew would help him relocate or reattach. His choice!

I think the jilted bride definately should host the party because one of them should at least has the courtesy to greet the guests whom I am sure traveled a great distance and spend alot of money for hotel and cloths.

Todd English is the one that has no class,no manner, no guts to face her, or discuss with her in advance until the last hour,so, what she is going do?Stay in her suite and cry her eye balls out?give me a break.

She totally should! A similar thing happened to me, only it was the day before. I had 200 out of town guests. It was a great party and yes, I think he should pay for it! What kind of guy can't speak up before it gets that close.

It's better it happened now than if they got married. It saved her a lot of trouble.

A friend of mine was totally shattered by her boy friend's NO SHOW on her wedding day, I only wish she has done what you did the other day in New York, and women around the country should see what you have gone through and learn how to deal with sleaz balls like Todd English should it ever happen to them.

jilted bride has already paid whether she parties or cries in a corner. it may not feel like it now but she should be grateful because she narrowly escaped a miserable marriage, pricey divorce and possible the dreaded "even years for me odd for you" kid trade off and lets not begin to talk about who carries the medical for 21 years (in ny) etc. the cost (emotional as well as financial) now are much smaller than they would be say 5 years from now. party on girl, party on!

I absolutely love the black barbies. I'm so happy they stopped making the burnt chocolate skin color. The more realistic shape and hair are A+. In the past I have bought Hispanic barbies because the skin color was more realistic than the dead ashen color of black dolls. Kudos Mattel
