Nobody’s perfect, of course, but some people in the public spotlight made plenty of headlines in 2009 because of their scandalous behavior. The results of an NBC News-Wall Street Journal poll on this subject are in, but what do you think? Which of the following people disappointed you most in the past year? Here are the options that were presented to survey participants by pollsters Hart/McInturff:

Hmmm... that's a hard one. All of them seriously screwed up, but my top two would be Tiger Woods and John Edwards. Tiger got 1st place because of multiple transgressions and the fact his sponsors supported him. John Edwards was a close second, but hey, he's a politician and it's to be expected. Both parties can pretend to have moral values, but we already know they are lying through their teeth. I do not believe cheating is a "lesser evil" or acceptable in any way, shape or form. It's the most hurtful thing you can do to your loved ones and if I'm not mistaken, there's a special place in hell for adulterers.
One of my fav quotes-
"In prison an innocent man will become a criminal, and in politics a good man becomes corrupt."
Chris Brown is by far the worse....beating up on your girlfriend is totally unacceptable! I can't believe anyone would think any of the others on this list were worse than him. He's a bottom feeder!
Edwards sucks because his wife needed his support while he was screwin that flakey broad. Tiger? I don't know. He's young and full of cum and maybe his wife is a bitch. Chris Brown? He's just a punk. What do ya expect from a punk?
Who cares what these "celebrities" do, since I don't care about them and their actions, How Can They Dissappoint me? Screw them I have more important things to worry about.
Wow! Someone who makes since!!!
My biggest disappointment wasn't listed. Agreed that the list has some real disappointments on it but, they weren't really big. My biggest disappointment was when the people in their ignorance of the facts, voted for the fool we now have as a president. I actually thought the American people were smarter. Boy, was I fooled and so naive. But, as time is showing, it will be the people who thought this fool could be a good president. They will be more disappointed than me.
Besides, All the people mentioned were idolized way too much. You put them at standards that make them robots, not people. But, I don't follow their antics anyways. You people pay way too much attention to people who don't really make a big difference. You ignore the people who do. You ignore the people who save lives and defend our country. You ignore the people who, in countless and thankless ways, do make a difference. They just don't blow their own horn. You meet real heroes everyday. I met a few just in the past months and it was an honor to thank them for their heroism. They were embarrassed by the attention. They said they were doing what anyone else would have done. So, the list that was up here to vote on, The real people aren't there.
Bravo Gordon! Especially the first paragraph.....well-stated.
I agree, too, Gordon. Although Obama's campaign message resonated with me, it took about 20 minutes of searching to find out that he lacked all the essential experience to back up any of his statements. I found it refreshing that so many were willing to look beyond race, but disappointing that people couldn't look at any facts. Great message, but wrong candidate!
I think elections shouldn't be based on an individual... you should have to fill out a check list of where you stand on the issues and told at the end which candidate your vote goes towards based on their convictions. And then if the candidate doesn't hold up their end of the bargain to work towards those key "change" issues, they should be impeached for defrauding the voters.
I'm so sick of our politics...
They are all terrible, but it's 'their' personal lives and none of our business. I believe the families (with kids involved) in the public eye are the worst. The rest of them are adults, and they are responsible for their own actions. The kids are just being dragged along without a choice, which is very sad.
p.s. who cares about how many Tiger Woods had indescretions with - like he's the only person who's ever done this? He just chose very poor examples of women who would go public for with their personal garbage for money.
I have to agree with this statement as well. Even though I look down on people in the public eye who have affairs, drag down those who support them. It goes against family values that we try so hard to instill in our children. Abuse, there is no excuse for that. Chris Brown...your our of here.
Personally, I was shocked to learn of Tigers Woods affairs. I don't know why I should be, most celebrities have affairs. I guess with his personality I just wanted to think he was above the majority and had come from a good family. Raised with discipline, his golf shows that. I love to watch him play and I hate that this is affecting his career. I don't understand why it should.
I think most definitely the greatest transgression is Chris Brown's attack on Rihanna. It is absolutely horrid to think of several of these gentlemen cheating on their wives, but the case of Brown and Rihanna comes down to life and death. He could have done a lot more damage that was incurred. She could have been killed. What I can't get over is that all of these people claim to love one another, but hurt each other in the worst ways.
I don't know really. I think it is a toss up between Tiger and Edwards. Shame on John Edwards for cheating on his wife when she was going through so much. He should have been there supporting her not messing around with someone else! However the Tiger situation kinda creeps me out. He was almost leading a double live for three years! This is something that really disappoints me for him. I thought we might have finally found a high paid sports figure who knew his right from wrong. Fooled me!
