The "Peanuts" comic strip character Snoopy was named the top dog in pop culture by the American Kennel Club on Tuesday as part of its 125th anniversary celebration. The beloved beagle beat out runners-up Reveille (mascot of Texas A&M) and Scooby Doo.

I don't disagree with Snoopy being top dog but where is Lassie, Tiger (Brady Bunch), and Flash (Roscoe's basset Hound on The Dukes of Hazzard). Who Let The Dogs Out? Really? Geez! Where's Goofy when you need him?
Snoopy has brought people a ton of fun and happiness over the years. I agree that "Who Let The Dogs Out" is not the best representation because it could have more than one meaning, not all of them positive. For instance, referring to men who cheat on their wives as "dogs," which has nothing whatsoever to do with the furry animals. I've always thought that doggies are too cute for that comparison, and that cheating spouses (of either gender) are more like wolves in the wild.
Snoopy is awesome. He deserves to be the top dog. He beat Scooby Doo simply because SD isn't what it use to be. The tried to renew it and make it more modern. plus, the classic scooby doo show(s) don't come on that often. Snoopy remains exactly the same as he always been. he is still very common.
As for the comment on Lassie, i don't know when the last time i even saw one on the lassie movies played. i know there are several but i don't even know if i have ever watched one of the movies, and i'm 18. if you walked up to a kid nowadays say a 10 yr old they might have heard of lassie but i doubt they would know or have watched any of the movies.
But seriously, "Who let the dogs out" could have been replaced with something. even if it was the "Lady and the Tramp" or "101 Dalmations" movies. both are much better then the song and you won't find a person who has never heard of them.
Hooray for Snoopy! He is the idol in this family. We have Snoopy everything.
Texas A&M mascot #2? Really? I smell a little ballot box stuffing going on here. And it smells like dogs*&t....
