Kate Gosselin is ringing in 2010 by shedding her signature hairstyle. In the latest issue of People magazine, the reality TV mom unveils long, highlighted extensions and discusses plans on "rebuilding" her life and setting new goals.
“It’s good to have hair again,” Gosselin told People. “I never thought I’d have short hair for as long as I did. I feel like this is a fresh start, a fresh me, a fresh life... I’ve got it. I am now Kate Clean Slate."

Well, she looks about 10 years younger (not always a bad thing) but she has also lost something (not sure what) Kids don't need cute hot moms. In fact her kids need a mom! But she's too caught up in herself to even be a mom. Where does she get off thinking she's a celebrity????

I wish she would concentrate more on the kids and use the money from the show for them and their future and not on herself. She is being selfish and not putting her children first. Be a mom.. They need you.

Right? Nothing wrong with taking care of yourself and hell... if I had eight kids I wouldn't mind 20 hours of attention! I raised 4 kids and managed not to turn them into obese slobs. Can't say that about many moms these days.
I've never been a fan of Jon & Kate and never once watched the show.... but they're in the media so much that everyone knows Kate is the one taking care of those kids while her scumbag ex is running around like a teenager making a fool of himself wherever he goes. Give her a break!
Whatever it takes for her to feel good about herself. Why is it such a big deal for her to make changes to herself? Everyone overlooks what Jon did as soon as he left her and all those kids to go live in NY and start his single life he has so missed. No one commented on his 2 earrings, his really youthful look, face(probably facials, among other things) or thinner physique once he left his old life behind and to get an apartment there on top of it all! Why does Kate constantly get crapped on for moving on but no one says a thing about Jon's horrible behavior? She is looking to make a fresh start and I for one am thrilled for her. Best of luck 2010 Kate. You deserve a man and not a boy child that Jon is and will continue to be sadly til he grows up which I don't see happening anytime in the near future.
I really don't want to hear about how tight money is! Perhaps she received this new style "gratis", but there are more important things out there! One article says the kids are not adapting well. I like her look. I have always kept my dark hair atleast shoulder length. I guess we all do what makes us feel the best, just as this lady. She looks like she is really getting everything together, and if how she looks helps her, then great.

"Kids don't need cute hot moms?" Why ever not? Just because you are a mother doesn't mean maintaining an attractive, up-to-date, well groomed appearance is selfish. That's a common mistake a lot of women make and, consequently, they end up losing their personal identity and self respect. Good for her! That old haircut was pretty silly looking and needed to go!
Janice-795365 I agree with you 95%!! As a married man I can tell you first and foremost that it is EXTREMELY important that a woman maintain a well groomed appearance and it is NOT AT ALL selfish! For me, yes I would love my wife no matter what. However, it absolutely does not hurt when she has a stylish hairdo, hot outfit, or sexy lingerie to keep things vibrant.
As a single mom, why would anyone let themselves go just because they have kids?? What is she supposed to do? Wait until her last child moves out before she goes on a date?? What kind of image is she suppose to display for her kids? Overweight? Sweatpants? Hair in curlers 24/7?

I think that every penny she spends on herself should come from money she earns herself. every penny she spends on a sitter or nanny while she is off getting THOUSANDS of $$ in extentions should come from self earned money! This woman is not maintaining herself, she was letting Jon, then a TV production company and now Jon's alimony payments maintain her! If someone else (a television production company) was footing the bill for liposuction, beauty treatments, baby sitters and the clothes most women wouldnt be overweight, curler haired or in sweatpants.
I agree with you Mari-1544733. The average person cannot afford for a plastic surgeon to remove their fat and undergo other procedures. The average person cannot afford all the expensive trips that was financed by the show, and nor could they afford all day childcare to be able to go to a 20 hour hair appointment. Frankly, I do not care either way about her hair because she is not paying my bills. She started off just like any other fat wife, but fame transformed her looks.
I am all for cool moms, but this seems to be all wrong. Too much focus on "look at me" and not enough on being a real mom who needs to get ready/maintain fairly quickly and effortlessly. Had extensions - this is a LOT of work!!! Eat your heart out Jon, and Kate you better get focused on something important - like your kids...

After being married to an immature and bratty man, she deserves some time for herself and to reinvent herself. Well, Big Daddy Jon has made it illegal for any of the focus to be on his children, which to me is the most selfish thing he could have done....he has taken away the one source of livelihood that his family had.Let's hope that house is paid for, so they don't end up out on the street, like it sounds like HE is going to do, since he can't pay the rent on the pricey apt. in New York!!! Thanks for clarifying it. I thought it was my monitor. I have that lighter blond hair color that is now sporting a poof of grey on the top, and I HATE it. I can't color it light (hair too fragile) and I look dreadful in darker colors. To see somebody do that color on purpose turns my stomach. Did anybody part with cash to purchase that magazine and see if the color is for real?

I'm not into plastic apples, so I don't display them on my table or eat them. I don't get into fake anything, be it hair COLOR, STYLE, or surgical modification. I am who I am. Kate, unfortunately, is so OUT THERE for public scrutiny (by her own choice, admittedly) that she feels compelled to create a better, albeit artificial, outside. I'm not into it, but from the smile on her face, it did what she wanted it to do. Becky, I agree with you, that as a single mom like I am, sometimes "mom" needs to be the number one on the list for a little indulgence. HOWEVER, never would i allow myself to sit for 20 HOURS on my HAIR!!! WHERE WERE THE KIDS WHEN SHE WAS GETTING HER HAIR DONE UNTIL THE WEE HOURS OF THE MORNING? she was not like you said there for them in the middle of the night if they had a bad dream! In fact she goes on so many speaking engagement that i find it hard to imagine her being around all that much.
She better hope she invested wisely from all the money she has gotten over the years cause god forbid she ever had to work, really work, to support them like a normal mom... i struggle as a single mom of one and i work full-time plus to give my child a decent living!
