I think that today's child is exposed to too many vices as it is..I'm all about freedom, in its many forms, however we as a race (the human race) need to know when enough is enough and too much is too much..I have a 10 year old and an 8 year old, both girls and I am very disturbed by the future, especially as it relates to what they are exposed to whether it be on tv, radio or in magazines or what other parents are allowing or forcing their kids to practice. From tots wearing heels, which is just wrong and also not good for them, to these commercials that are becoming increasingly sexual in nature, i.e. a certain athletic shoe company that thinks it's ok to show close up pictures or a woman's derrier and other body parts in a seductive sexual nature in the name of selling shoes to grown women during the hours that most kids are still awake and watching tv..who are they selling the shoes too? I think it is time that us as a race (the human one) start to take serios note of not only our actions but those of our children. With each liberty..there is room for abuse and those who are only too eager to push or surpass the boundaries of what is and SHOULD be acceptable. Stand up for what is right now and then. It will make you feel good!

There are plenty of other ways to allow young girls to be girlie. High heels are not acceptable. They make a number of very cute flats for young girls. I didn't get my first pair of heels until I was a Junior in high school and that was fine by me. If you want them to feel like girls let them wear dresses, paint their nails and wear jewelry. Leave the high heels for a later date such as their Junior/Senior Prom and things such as that. There is no reason to encourage young girls to grow up faster than they need to. Let them be kids.

what is us as a society to allow our children to dress like !!wh0r3s!! i am 28 and didn't own my first pair of heels till i was 24. its not cute or girlie it is strictly to market sexiness to YOUNG girls and making them belive that if they don't have these things and dress like that boys wont like them or they wont be "cool" i have a 9 yr old that would wear only short shorts and mid ruff if i let her (side note: we do not buy her closths like that - and when other people buy her clothing not approiate for a young girl the magickly disappear) Tis just another step to de-moralize our society and nation.

Kids need to be kids! There are things that are sort of "rights of passage" and heels along with pierced ears are some of those things. I realize it may be hard to buy normal kid stuff since manufacturers and designers are obviously trying to rush our small kids into puberty by dressing them like they're 30 when they're only 3. It's a dangerous move, and makes me very happy to be the mother of all boys!!!

Chunky, low heels for dressing up, special occasions etc., worn for short periods of time isn't so bad. Otherwise, I feel that it's not good for their developing feet.

playing dress-up in mom's stuff is ok, especially since you only have them on for an hour or two before you get bored of the dress-up game. my stepdaughter has shoes that aren't even really heels, but they're higher than flats and i absolutely will not let her wear them when she's visiting us. as for myself, i have only recently begun wearing heels, and i'm 34! there's no reason to have our girls grow up so quickly - they end up learning, in the process of "being girlie" that many have stated, that they are objects and have to be super cute all of the time in order to get attention, which snowballs into acting stupid and basing their entire lives on their looks. i know that's reaching a bit from a question about heels for girls, but i have watched it unfold with my stepdaughter and her father and i are constantly building up her mind and her intelligence in order for her to not fall into a trap that others around her seem to be setting...

I am so sick of products sold to make kids look and act older. Its disgusting! From Bratz dolls to Old Navy's low cut jeans, my 9 and 6 year olds need to enjoy being kids as long as possible. Everything in our society says grow up even when they dont fully understand just what that means and it makes me very angry.

Children need to play. They can't play in heels. They can't run on the playground in heels or flip flops for that matter. They don't need them. They make so many cute sandals with wide straps and tennis shoe bottoms, let them wear those. For dress up nice shoes are appropriate, but my kids run and play at church too. So they don't need heels there either. It's just asking for an accident.

All we are doing is stealing "rights of passage" from children: graduation commencement ceremonies from everything from first grade to a YWCA summer; bikini underwear; peek-a-boo clothes; cell phones and gameboys, etc. Half of this stuff is not really attractive on a young woman (because they have unhealthy eating habits and don't exercise), let alone young children! This is all about marketing. It's a cult - get to the children earlier, you'll make the parents open their wallets! As difficult as it was dealing with the clothes and makeup issues when I was a girl in the 1970s, I am so grateful that I am not a child today - in no way could I afford the things kids now "must have"! More and more pressure about the wrong things is being leveled on kids, who cannot know that they are merely being exploited to pad a CEO's wallet.

Shoe heels size!?

You people are actually wasting your damn time talking about the size of shoe heels? Seriously, wake up! You have a real problem coming after your child and this one you might not be able to stop.

Today your eight year old daughter is more likely to be ‘sexed’ by a group of little girls than to be accosted by a man, whether she has on heels or not. Yes, I do believe in allowing kids to be kids. I have two daughters ages 3 and 5 years old. Neither will wear heels until they’re old enough to know what they want, and I will trust ‘them’ on that, not outsiders. However, you people here in this country are either blind to a really more serious problem or you’re really pretending to not acknowledge what is happening with your kids, boys and girls. It has been reported in the news and on the Internet on a number of occasions: Young girls are molesting other young girls and gang raping your daughters ‘with objects’ in school bathrooms. Older sisters, female cousins, aunts and female family friends are the perpetrators who are sexually ‘turning-out’ our daughters nowadays. You as a people do not warn your girls of being molested by females/girls, so when this happens, little and young girls are powerless to report it because they have ‘never’ heard such a thing is possible. So you people need not worry about the size of these little girls shoe heels, worry about the mentality of your daughters friend/s. Once young girls are ‘turned-out’ by other girls, they soon after and often always will have sex with guys, men, even older males for money. One day YOUR CHILD will become the victim of a female child molester, you know, the pervert you DIDN’T warn them about or even wanted to acknowledge. If you didn’t warn them about female molesters, then worrying about them wearing flat shoes won’t help them either.

It is terrible that I am going to have to WAKE UP this nation as to what is going on with our little girls. This heel size article is the third stupidest subject I’ve read about in as many days. Yet, there are NO conversations or comments about the raping of our little girls by females, all across the nation. As for the many reports about gang rapes of little girls in school bathrooms, guess what, no arrests, no charges. And the female rapists get more and more arrogant. Time is coming, when a group of females will takes girls right off our streets without care of arrest. Not because they know they’ll get away with it, but because nothing is ever done about what they are doing.

It is child abuse; these parents should be held accountable for using their own children for fame, money and vicariously living out their own fantasies of being on the cat-walk.

The whole concept of dressing little girls as women is quite disturbing to me. Children should be allowed to be children as long as possible. I have dealt with both little girls and teenagers in my line of work, the clothes they wears validates them, it makes them feel special or nerdy depending on what they are wearing to the point where 9 and 10 year olds are making moves towards older teenage boys, they tend to feel special when given attention for being "sexy." I also remember myself as a 14 year old wearing stockings for the first time, I thought I had arrived, I was being call "big girl" I was now a woman, this was in the 70's and men started calling to me. I felt special. It's the same today, please make their dressing age appropriate. They might not like you now but later on they will thank you for allowing them to ripen naturally and in time applaud you, don't rush the process.

I find this "fad" disturbing only if the child is constantly wearing the higher heels...and then only because this is a young, developing body and these shoes distort normal and healthly posture , creating potentially damaging musculoskeletal stressors. Fortunately, most little girls play at this grown up behavior and do not wear the shoes consistently. They quickly kick the shoes off and only intermittently wear them...ignore it...it will soon fade into memory. All little girls remember shuffling around in their Mom's high heels...fun but a short lived experience, just one of many imitative behaviors as we test out the world.

WHO CARES ABOUR SURY what she does will not affect my childs upbringing .Thi sis not acceptable children should be children she will grow and make her won decisions let be a child...she is just spoil I bet is her decision not mom's decision! If Sury decides to do something out of the ordinary ,are mom's starting do it the same thing? that is so immature of the mothers.

all the inappropriate attire for any age [including the push up out of your skin-tight- v-neck-shirt bras that teens are wearing; the micro mini short short with the words 'juicy' etc, the stupid size 58 pants the boys are holding onto 'just a few examples....] would all go away quickly IF THE PARENTS DID NOT BUY THEM. many of the parents are seen sporting these same items. "where is stacy and clinton when you need them?" lol

oh and the muffin tops .... they are found on all ages....moms dads really?

shoes are the least of the offensive attire. visit your local schools you will be amazed at the attire from elementary to seniors! and yes most schools have dress codes: they don't enforce due to the parents!

parents really do have the power.

you can dress up your child as a mini paris or mini ashly/kate or mini me rapper all you want but your precious will never be them. and you're just out LOTS of $ that could have benefited your child in numerous ways.
