Still cared deeply for his wife even though he cheated on her? He must not have cared very much about her anyway because she has cancer and he threw away his marriage for another woman. He's a scumbag for what he did to her.

What is so scary in all this is that not only did Edwards cheat on his wife, but he did it without protection. Now, if this woman that Edwards cheated and sired a child with would do him, what other men might she have done in recent years, sans protection. I do not believe that John Edwards was the first man this woman had sex with, and if you're single and fooling around, you make sure you're using a good birth control and making the guy use a condom only because you know that this guy is going to bed you then who else might he have bedded. Kind of a catch-22 situation here.

Edwards is a disgrace.
People do things for different reasons, and most some of us do not understand. What Edwards did to his dying wife is unforgiveable.This is dispicable behavior and a public figure as he is should not be in office.We the people deserve honest and respected officers . We should not except the behavior that has been exibited by so many in office. Think people think.
It's a disgusting person that cheats on his or her spouse but there is not a word low enough to describe a "person" that would cheat while their spouse is battling cancer.

I feel sorry for Elizabeth, that is an ugly situation I wouldn't wish on anyone, but she's kind of an elitist, she told him the affair was so "Kennedy", and embarrassing, but yet she stayed because she might be able to redecorate the Whitehouse.

As for her being "his whore", there is no evidence that he paid her for her services not that he was her pimp. If she is labeled as "his whore" because she had sexual contact with him without having been married, then there are a lot of whores out there - she certainly wouldn't fit that category alone. You know Elizabeth doesn't look like she's doing all that well either. It could be stress and cancer both, but in recent pictures her coloring appears really off. People tend to overlook their faults and put them on a pedestal if they are a popular athlete or high official making millions, even call them heroic and stand in awe of them. The ones that should be called heroic and deserve the highest respect and more pay are the warriors fighting and dying for this country.

How long do you think people remain "dying" in stage 4 cancer? Do they gain increasing weight? Do they open business es years after diagnosis off stage 4 CA? Not from a medical background I presume....
I've known "terminal" cancer patients, given weeks to a month, go on to live for a year -- even growing in strength and weight before the quick decline at the end.
My dear friend who died of breast cancer a couple of years ago had written us an email THREE YEARS before her death saying, "this is the last time you'll ever hear from me..." There were so many times she was knocking on death's door.

LynninCA -- Edwards made a solemn promise to his wife and family to be faithful and focus his time and affection on all of them. They relied on that pledge. Then he made the conscious decision, not a mistake or accident, to violate that pledge he knew he made and he knew they relied on. His behavior is execrable and despicable. If Sex is sex then betrayal is betrayal. He deserves all the misery he receives.
