The skier's quest for five Alpine skiing medals may be in serious jeopardy because of a serious shin injury suffered a week ago in training, she revealed Tuesday. "I don't know honestly if I'll be able to do it," she said.

Best of luck, Lindsey.
BFD. Someone can't ski. Please tell me how that makes any difference.
All Minnesota skiers hope for the best for you. Heal, Health and Honor.
All we can do is hope and Pray... I hope she gets better and wins the gold. She deserves them.
This skier ALWAYS makes excuses for herself AHEAD of time. Is this a "marketing" ploy or what? (Oh, and I did it hurt!) Ski, don't ski, yada yada, but stop complaining and making anticipatiory excuses.
She is planning her out in case she loses she can always blame it on her injury, I have lost respect for her.
You are both right, and if you read the accompanying 'side story' you'll see why.
Big rift with daddy. He's her biggest supporter WHEN SHE DOES WELL, and BIGGEST CRITIC when she doesn't. (He has a competitive skiing background himself) So.....her injuries give her 2 'outs'.....one to excuse bad performances, and 2) to avoid the wrath of dad, whom she doesn't even speak to since the Torino failure. He still e-mails her, so she still 'gets' the tongue lashing, just not face-to-face.
I still wish her well, but it depends more on her ability to get over the parental 'rejection' problem, than her skiing prowess!
That's sad, to get this far on her skill and have it jeopardized at the Big One. I hope she heals in time.
Poor girl's not even allowed to heal. How would you feel if you were bleeding and your employer makes you come into work? That's pretty much the pressure she's under. She is draining fluids and barely able to walk, so I hardly think it's a ploy for publicity or a lie as others on here are implying.
It is the SI curse. She was on the cover of the Sports Illustrated Olympics preview issue. Despite what some have said, it is very sad if a person with her athletic skills who has prepared for a long, long time is unable to perform at their best in the Olympics. Not knowing when her events are scheduled, she may want to forego the earliest and hope to be healed for later ones. By taking the risk early, she could ruin her chances for the entire run.
The SI cover jinx strikes again...
suck it up and get out there and win the gold. stop whining.....
just out for the extra publicity the more her name is out the re the more the bucks come in the olympics are a sham
Why doesn't she step aside and let someone else, who has a chance to win, take her place?
My thought exactly, InChesVa. Isn't there always an alternate to the Olympic teams who can step up for a chance. She should do the noble thing a bow out.
Well like Nana Rosannadanna used to say, "You got a lotta opinions [for someone from New Jersey]. Some of you whiney people who wrote here are awfully cynical....maybe jealous? Good for Lindsey to work so hard for what she has accomplished. May the sun shine on her in her Olympic quests....she has already won a much larger prize than a lot of the whiners who write on this blog!
