Every day each one of us, all 300mil plus, drops more than one gallon of pollutants. We should each educate ouselves and take personnal precautions instead of just cussing the other guy.
Reduce the number and severity of out cleaning products, packaging, throw away containers, fertilizers, etc. The list is endless.
Oh I forgot.
Did you know that 41 millions of oil seep out of the bottom of the Gulf of Mexio NATURALLY each year. Yes i was supprised too.
on the contrary, i think that the shoot is very sensitive. if the model was on a pristeen beach with a colorful bakini and oily dead wildlife around her,"THATS INSENSITIVE!" this shoot emphasizes all of our coutries waste.may god help us.
Slums are made by neglect and Ruins are made by accidents and Wars.
, The BP Oil Spill was a mega Accident by neglect of Greedy for Gain Corporation Masters. The Oil Spill is mess made by man and his lack of respect for Nature and the Planet Earth.
There are all kinds of Energy Sources on Earth, but the Oil Masters of Corporations and Nations of Oil will not allow or permit the New Technology of Energy take over and close down oil wells, oil fields, and oil stations on Planet Earth.
The Candle was replaced by the Electric Light, the Stagecoach was replaced by the Trains, and one day Oil Fields will be replaced with a New Clean Energy Source on Planet Earth. It will be done, The BP Corporation Oil Spill Disaster made New Clean Energy Source available. The Human Lives and the Economy are at risk
with off-shore Oil Drilling ! New Energy Source is the Destiny for Human Beings on Planet Earth, just accept it!
I would ask the question "Who has stopped driving their automobile so as to quit purchasing gasoline, or turned off their electricty?"
How very sad that we as a nation will put it's focus to whatever is popular and pushed by the mass media machine as it sees fit. The "cause of the week" I call it. Sometimes it's a regional thing and sometimes it's not, but one thing that is guarenteed is that the minute something occurs that the producers see as a way to exploit and sell more air time the more pressing it is on the daily crap broadcast. Watching the news in the United States is shameful. Sara Palin farting cannot justify being rebroadcast at the top of each 1/2 hour.
TO: Luna 0316; Wow, You have a subscrition to 'Vogue' What does THAT say about your sensitivity
The oil spill is a serious matter. Why would anyone want to sweep it under the rug and forget it happened. This shoot..makes it more visibly REAL for people NOT there themselves. It DOES effect humans in the long run just as much as animals. This shoot creates awareness in a whole different level and anyone wanting to ignore the issue should be ashamed of themselves and their lack of respect for the earth they live on. The SAME earth that gives them their food, drink, LIFE. I love the shoot, i think the idea behind it is amazing and very much a topic everyone should be considering making a difference for.
OMG wake up ppl. It's not political but is is a frickin disaster. One that is KILLING life as we know it. Life in the sea, our greatest producer of food. Ok, lets cover the earth in oil and see how long we live.
I think it is a great picture, it makes you think just we as people are doing to our oceans, and beaches.
I think the modeling industry will use anything they can be it environmental disaster, human nature issue, or even politics to make money. No matter what the message is and no matter how it's interpreted by others, it's all about making money for the magazine.
Exactly. And lest we forget...It's VOGUE. I can count on one hand the number of times I've picked up a Vogue magazine. Time, Newsweek, National Geographic. Those are the publications to take seriously.
Well, moreso than Vogue anyway. Next up. Immigration issues as seen through the eyes of Cosmopolitan.
THEN you cannot deny that the readers of Vogue NEED those photos more than perhaps ANYONE. Most equate the word voque to "in fashion". Humans by (animal) nature live in their own bubbles, whether dark or light. When one "makes it" they choose to believe "they've made it" and have every right to waste it, and its THEIR time to shine and "leave the world behind".
In fact, the word vogue comes from:
[Late 16th century. < French , literally "rowing" < voguer "to row"]
Encarta ® World English Dictionary © & (P) 1998-2005 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.
While we must always remember where we've been, we must also be willing to see far off to where we are going with this and that, and FIRST how it will affect ALL LIVING THINGS. By beastly nature, humans do not care and prefer to teach "MY MOMENTS" all mine, mine mine. Take the 1st family waste and celebrity shoulders they now get to rub and pat with, not because a one of those humans are better, but were HELPED there by their audiences.
We do not deny a public servant's rights to a day off. Just saying that since they have taken on a time of service, when we are obligated to protect them as they "serve us", they might best save their extravagant waste for their "retirement" in a few more years from now.
Row, row, row your boat is for your enlightenment. When one rows a boat they are facing where they have been, but not looking where they are going. One would not row down a small winding stream, as depths are ever changing and there are too many twists and turns. One might canoe, but will have to stand up and portage often, by necessity.
I understand how some would think this photo brings attention to this biohazard, however, I think art is a perception and my short comment earlier would reflect that if the female in the photo represented a mermaid, I can see the idea behind the concept. In this regard, like everything else around her, she has washed up and is dying from our waste. I believe it is important to draw attention to serious matters that affect us. More than that though it is important to convey a message that does not reflect that we make light of tragedy, instead we should expose it for what it is so that we learn the repercussions from it.
Thank you Vogue Italia for your direct, shocking and thought provoking visual impact of our coastal disaster. This is a visual "shaming" of BP's thoughtlessness and carelessness. It should make BP realize that now their job is to compensate this ravaged area both environmentally and socially. An american magazine would not have the "balls" to publish such a direct visual statement.
"Some one mentioned hard working people are out of work because of the Obama administration" due to the oil spill and the handling of it. GIVE ME A BREAK. Ur a moron for thinking that. Do people understand politics, because that's what this is all about. BP wanted to show that they can handle this them selves and declined assistance from others. Piss off with this Obama this Obama that. The blame President Obama for everything topic is old and idiotic!
I had a good eyeroll at that statement too.
I'm sure said person is one of those ultra conservatives that are in denial over the fact that it was Bush that got our economy the way it is, not Obama :/
bush may have started us down the hill but that obama ass is throwing us all off the cliff.
It's a true injustice that the corporate giant and the Government could not stop the spill.
Somethings awry here.
Why is BP the greedy culprit? They would be MORE than happy to drill ABOVE water in areas no one visits and would do minimal, if any, damage to the environment. However, the extreme environmentalists refuse to allow this forcing BP to go miles under the water in an attempt to drill for a product that every single solitary person reading this uses and/or takes advantage of every single day! We cannot survive without oil, and until we can quit casting stones!
I think the cover is certainly thought provoking and realistic. This is the reality of the greed going on . Down here in the Florida we have always had the luxury of our beautiful beaches, but now we have millions of gallons of oil polluting our environment and killing the sea. People are not realizing the impact that oil is having on our oceans worldwide. You should look into oil spills all over the world and you will see just have much damage is really being done that we don't hear about. The thing that gets me the most is the opposition to renewable solar energy here in Fl. We could produce solar on a large scale and offset using oil for energy.Big oil doesn't worry about their grandchildren's future, they have made so much money they can vacation and live anywhere they choose while our future generations have to deal with the reality.I sure wish we could at least slow down the damage and change the statis quo. We need oil for some things of course but we can make electricity with solar and reduce our dependency on forein oil. Thank you for your cover. I love it
Has anyone been "sensitive" to the carbon footprint that this unnecessary magazine makes with its monthly production... let alone one photo shoot. This entire magazine defines unnecessary consumption.
true..then you have too look at every newspaper and mag. and dont forget how much paper school go through. im just saying....paper, carbon, its all waste. were just more used to seeing it.
