You mentioned that Muslums are greatly opposed to this Saturday's demonstration. I can speak of several Christians who are horrified at this demonstration. This preacher is NOT representative of Christians and I HATE being wrapped in with his very un-Christian actions.

Everyone - Email every TV station, newspaper and media outlet and ask them not to publish images of Qurans burning on 9/11. This will only fan the flames and jeopardize American lives around the world. Do not publicize this lunacy! Send an email and save a life!

I applaud this preacher for standing up. It is time someone stood up for what is right in America. Everyone is always worried about insulting someone that does not even believe in God. Stand up Christians!!! Praise God that this man has the guts to do it.

General Petraeus is right ... in spite of President Obama chirping in late. The Florida pastor is insulting all Muslims including our Muslim allies who have been beside us in the Global War on Terror since 2001. In the meantime, the true fanatics, al-Qaida, the Taliban, the Muslim Brotherhood, Hamas, Islamic Jihad and others would delight in this publicity to further their own sinister cause.

On a further not, this act of burning Qurans is every bit as inciteful and dangerous to public peace as burning Bibles, burning the American flag, burning a cross, desecrating a synagogue, burning churches and the pagan torturing of live captive pets on public and private property. See the similarities? “All” of those acts should be against the law here in our country. Perhaps after this, they will be.

Freedom of speech is limited. For instance, it doesn't give one the right to yell "Fire!" in a crowded theater. That is precisely what this supposed Christian leader is doing but on a much larger scale. His rights do not supercede the safety of others. What he is doing is not simply ignorant it is endangering others and so must be stopped.

Since when could one man/person hold the entire globe HOSTAGE? I have family stationed in Afghanistan!

Obviously, Pastor Jones and Imam Musri were set up for a drive-by by Imam Abdel.  Either that or the two imams set up the pastor.  Regardless, the truth will come out.  Too, I think Imam Abdel's chances of building that mosque where he wants to, at Ground Zero, are about as likely as Obama, Pelosi and Reid escaping Regime Change on judgment ... I mean ... election day, ... that is none to zero.   Ultimately though, I hope the pastor does not go through with his ill-advised plan to burn those Qur'ans.  There are too many good people in the Islamic world, many of whom are with us in our fight against al-Qaida, the Taliban, and other terror organizations to write them off by destroying their holy book in an act of anger and contempt.  Likewise, it is time for Imam Abdel to just "man up" and agree that the mosque should be built somewhere ... less inflammatory ... than Ground Zero. 

This unruly and insignificant pastor ought to be ignored. As disturbing as his intentions are, the media's attention has certainly fueled his foolish and disrespectful plan. As a Muslim myself I feel insulted but I say this pastor should be ignored and whatever dispicable action he will take should not be covered by any TV station and instead the media's attention should turn to the various constructive and creative measures that many interfaith coalitions have been planning for this weekend. Campaigns to 'Read Rather than Burn the Quran ' event for example is one. Just imagine the reactions of the Muslim world to such proactive positive move on their TV screens.

To MSNBC and all media I say, please direct your coverage to what is worth covering this Saturday.

Reinhard Krauss teaches religion at UCLA, and is also the pastor at St. Luke's Presbyterian Church in Rolling Hills Estates. He's doing this event on Saturday, and it would be great to have Muslims involved, to help introduce Christians to the Qur'an. Prof. Amir Hussein will do the introduction to the Qur'an.

Why are we giving this idiot any media coverage? He is suppose to be a man of GOD and yet he is promoting violence in the name of God... I am a christian and am ashamed that he says that our God has instructed him to do this. No one would know that he is doing this if the media would stop putting him on TV!!!!!

Ok, here's the deal, yes this pastor is reckless and not reasonable but:
1. Yes, Islam has disrespected our flag and the Bible more times than anyone knows. They have perpetrated unprovoked attacks against our country killing thousands. They have killed our troops. They degrade women and children. They manipulate minds, etc, etc.
2. Is it OK to burn a Koran (sp?)? Yes, it is. In America you can burn a Bible, burn our own flag and burn a Koran. That is a legal right.
3. The US Federal government is totally behind stopping this. Why? What ever happened to separation of church and state? I feel that the US gov't is violating the constitution by trying to stop the burning of this book. Why do they not work to support Judeo Christian beliefs with the same enthusiasm? Is it because Jews and Christians don't bomb buildings and civilians? Just wondering.
4. What is the Koran? The Muslim holy book. Key word here is that it is a book. If it is truly the word of God how can the burning or destruction in any manner of a book made by man diminish the word of God. God's word is eternal and its truth and longevity are not based on anything that man does, did or will do. Isn't that so?
5. Ok, so the most powerful nation on the face of the Earth is afraid of what some fundamentalist will do in response to a book burning. Isn't this the same country that responded to 9/11 with strength and confidence? Isn't this the same country that responded to 12/7 (Pearl Harbor) with strength and confidence?
6. Not all Muslim's are American haters. Yes, the Koran teaches things about non Muslims and how it is OK to not tell the truth to them etc, but still not all Muslim's are "bad". Here is Islam's chance to prove this. Do not act like uneducated, uncaring reactionaries when a BOOK is burned. The God's truth cannot be destroyed by man. Islam, show you are strong, show you are united, show you are the people of God by not reacting like violent reactionaries. This Islam is your time to prove you are a religion of love and peace. React in violence and

I ask the media to please stop giving this man news coverage, especially on September 11. He is being very selfish in his self-promotion and being disrespectful of those whose lives were lost on 9/11 and their families. Further, I don't know one person in my group of friends and colleagues who agree with him or his actions. If anything, we all agree he is promoting intolerance and hatred. I just heard his interview with Meredith Viera and his statement that "Islam is killing people". That statement itself shows his hatred. People kill people. Please follow the advice of the previous post by Springbreeze and focus on those who are preaching tolerance, acceptance and remembering those who lost their lives or the families left behind, on this Saturday, 9/11.

Putting aside, for a moment, the political and military consequences of this madness, I would like to remind the "Pastor", that Nazis burn books. Americans don't burn books. I was very upset at the attack on this pastor by Meredith Vieira insinuating that he should feel responsible for the backlash of Islamic extremist. How stupid and/or blind are Americans. The pastor made a good point that you don't see Christians killing other religious groups because of their burning of Bibles or flags. What the hell Americans? I'm not saying that this pastor is going about his the right way but to say that he is insighting violence? please.... Another thing...yes, Christians for the most part are intolerant. There it is said...that's because true Christians feel that the Bible tells us how we should live and to tolerate such things are to tolerate sin....

Meridith sounded stupid today in her argument with the pastor when she accused him of causing the deaths of people for inciting rage. It is never acceptable for someone to kill someone because they are upset about something. Now can we all accuse Meridith of causing deaths because she made it sound like these radical people were justified in their actions? I do not agree with burning the Koran but newscasters should really consider what they say because people put so much trust in their opinions. Shame on you Meridith!

This guy is obviously crazy, impaired, or something. He is certainly adding fuel to the fire in his attempt to gain 15 minutes of fame. But what is worse is the fact that NBC is acting as his mouthpiece! I do not agree the Pastor should burn the Koran. With that said I do not believe he is responsible for any deaths that did or will transpire. The pastor, or anyone for that matter, does not "force" another person to kill another human being. It was wrong of you to try to put a death of another human being on the pastor's head.

American's don't get upset when the bible or the American flag is burned, or the fact that muslims are killing at the thought of a koran being burned, but "we" are outraged at the thought of someone burning a koran....a constitutionally protected right. WAKE UP AMERICA!

What happened to unbiased news reporting? Meredith tore into him making it very clear where she stood, trying everything she could to make him seem like a murderer. I thought good news reporting was being unable to tell which side the reporter agrees with. Islamic people are evil and if they feel fine burning our flags and bibles everyday but can't handle one quaran being burned there is something very very wrong here. I stand right behind this man, time to show America just how horrible these people are and how much they need to be stopped!

It's interesting that when threats of violence are made in the U.S., justice is swift, yet neither the media nor our so-called political and religious leaders condemn the threats of violence coming out of the Middle East as a reaction to the book burning. Instead we indulge.

Bottom line is sometimes people do stupid things and offend others, but no one on this earth has the legal right not to be offended. Anyone that threatens violence or commits violence as a reaction to being offended is guilty and should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. I think the pastor has already proven his point without lighting a single match.

Am I the only one that sees this Pastor Jones thing for what it is? The mans' entire congregation is 50 people! I have more people at family get-togethers.
