I came back to work after having surgery, my boss made a comment to me " don't you think it's time for my counter part be successful" from that day on my ratig went from excellent to inconsistent. My counter part is a male. After coming back from leave, I have been accused of unbelievable things, I have been to hr, hr out side of our unit. Other women have come forward, hitting a brick wall. Our unit has always been known to have the good ole boys club. I have documented all situations, addressed with my upper managements, some of the responses were blaming others and with no facts. I have worked 100 times harder on developing the department, and projects.

The practice of singling out women to lose their jobs or to be harassed on the job probably happens across the whole country more than any of us know. I work at a major telecommunications company in St Louis. We have a 2nd line manager here who has fired several women over the years, and even though he is not well liked even by his own peers he gets away with doing this discrimination probably because he singles out women to vent his anger issues against. He has been sent to anger management classes because of his explosive screaming incidents when he loses his temper including occasions when he's thrown phones and computer equipment across the room. He doesn't want to go to any more anger mgmt classes so now he's resolved to go undercover. Instead of throwing tantrums at employees he's resorted to plotting against women to get them fired by keeping track of small incidents and compiling them to use as a reason to suspend them without pay or to get them fired, this involves occupational employees. Males employees aren't targeted. He even selected his only 1st line manager, a women to lose her job recently when our office had to downsize managers by two. There were other male managers who deserved to lose their job instead of her, but at their management meeting he offered her up so she was released. So far, few managers have stepped up to try to stop this negative behavior of his but recently when he threw a massive tantrum in a meeting that included only other male managers another 2nd line manager had to step between him and a male 1st line manager to prevent an attack from occurring when the 1st line manager objected to his bad behavior against employees. To date, this guy is still allowed to pick on women employees that he personally decides he doesnt like for one reason or another and since our company, like many others is downsizing and ours is also reducing its union employees so probably to them he's helping them out. It took one lady 5 years of paying an attorney to get her job back, many people wont fight back like she did.

At some point, move on...when you've done all the right things and even HR cannot be convinced, find another position in another company. Or, if you don't want to give up the fight, consider getting a lawyer and getting the other women on board to file a collective complaint.

Yeah.....all the hot chicks get the good jobs.

To Mike 1091701.....When you quit dragging your knuckles on the ground and learn to stand upright....maybe you will actually see the light that has been shining on you all along, but you had your head bent over and too far up your butt to figure it out...

I work for a large company and I have been discriminated against and screwed over more times than I can count, I stay because there are very few jobs to be had, and I have no desire to start over somewhere else at minimum wage with no insurance and no vacation, the 15 years that I have worked for this company ought to at the least give me that for the crap I have had to put up with.

I worked for a company years ago, where the administrator said that he paid married women less because they had husbands to support them.

Given the economic situation in this country, it's not so simple to just " move on  [and] find another position in another company."  Without economic resources and definitive proof...you don't have a case or a chance of recovery.   

I was forced out because I didn't fit into the "girls" club. I failed to realize my job was to make sure the boss was the center of attention at all times.

Within one year all male employees had been forced out or demoted.
