Perhaps marying for love and not tradition or what is expected, e.g. blood lines, will result in a very successful marriage. Prince William and Ms. Middleton appear to be marrying for all the right reasons and I wish them a lifetime of happiness. I look forward to waking up very early next spring or summer to watch thier wedding just like 30 years ago when his parents married.
All nastiness aside, people! I think both Prince William and Ms. Middleton, have shown great forethought not rushing into a marriage and potential divorce. Both have been in this serious relationship long enough now; and, "laid the groundwork" to obtain a firm grasp of what the position of "Future King & Queen of England" entails.
However, both Prince William and Ms. Middleton, have already weathered serious relationship problems in the past and come out the better. With this in mind, we are able to see how they interact with each other through good and bad. I believe, this marriage and future relationship will be a shining point in British History, given the past failed relationships of various British Royals. Both Prince William and Ms. Middleton appear to be a very grounded couple, respecting each others views and, obviously, dedicated to each other.
I see Prince William and Ms. Middleton, as the "down to earth, modern Royal couple" that will set a positive example for their country today and in the future. I wish these new young royals all the happiness the future can offer....
I guess we'll hear about this every day for the next 6-9 months or until they get hitch. Wish the couple the very best and then cool it until the time gets nears. No, the news media will shove it down our throats about the dress, the ring, how they met etc......big deal-----like they're the only couple to be married. I am getting sick of it already.
Then don't click on the article and read it, much less make a comment! The more people click on these articles, the more the news sites will publish stories of this kind! Nobody is shoving news down your throat - you took it - hook, line, and sinker!
BJ, you are wrong. I am retired and my wife works,so I am around the house being a househusband and most generally have the tv on while I work so I see this bombardment on all the news shows. A person can not get away from it if they watch any tv at all. The media starts all this on tv before there is a story online that can be commented on. I bet a dime to a donut the media doesn't waste their time reading the comments any way, as they will run their programs the way they want,no matter what anyone says. But whatever,you all have a great day.

Bobby, I have a suggestion for you: turn off the TV. See? It's simple.
If you must have white noise, I recommend public radio e.g. NPR. Listening to public radio is actually constructive whereas TV is more of a wasteland than even Minnow envisioned.
It's called "changing the channel" or better yet, "turning off tv". Bobby, it's your choice.

God have mercy on us all. Now that the media can't talk about the oil spill or mid-term elections, we are going to get inundated with daily and hourly reports about this much hyped royal wedding. There is nothing better to inflame class envy and the frustration over unemployment then daily updates about this overindulged, entitled couple who have accomplished nothing aside from being born into wealth.

I'm happy for his military record, but to be honest with you I haven't been keeping tabs on the guy. It's wonderful that he's getting married and all, but must we hear about it for another half year until the glorious day? This has been front page news for 2 days already.
His military record? Are you kidding me? They pulled him out as soon as the media found out he was there. I'm sure he never flew any dangerous missions other than landing in his girlfriends back yard, that went over so well with the English people didn't it? Oh yea, I know, training right?
If I was a prince, yea, i'd be a pilot. I'd be anything I wanted and nobody would stop me. They'd just smile and say I did great, even if I couldn't fly an R/C plane they'd give me medals.
Jealous? No. I just don't give people notoriety because of who their family is. Anyone else in his position could do the same things. Stop being so star struck.
This is good news for a change. I hope they show it on TV. I can't wait to see Kate's wedding dress. I love weddings.
Kittycat, I 'm with you. With all the negativity and the nastiness of politics that we have been baraged with lately, it is lovely to see this young couple so in love, planning this wedding. I can't get enough! The ring, the story of how he proposed...and I agree, I can't wait to see the gown. I wish them both the best, and I love that the media will allow us to share this event every step of the way.

Last time I checked, we defeated the Brits in a major war to extricate ourselves from their corrupt, self-indulgent monarchy and their 'empire'. Why are our elitist media acting as if they live in London.? While I wish these people well, I really don't care a whit about them. We should be concentrating on ridding ourselves of the self-appointed royalty who have infected our own government.

DISGUSTING!!! The news channels spend all this time on this junk/gossip while spending less than 5 minutes about one of the few living medal of honor recepient getting his medal. He is a US citizen defending our country for us risking his life and he gets a lousy few minutes. What have the powerless royals done to deserve such time? Disgusting!
D-1183124: I call bullsh*t on that one. I saw a lot of great coverage of the Medal of Honor recipient. And all more in depth than about the royal engagement. (Admittedly, I don't watch the Today show.) I watch a lot of cable news, and I, for one, am thrilled that there may be a topic that won't feature people screaming at each other about "Socialists" and "Teabaggers."

Has no one learned from Diana's death that all this ridiculous media coverage of Prince William is beginning a dangerous trend? I, for one, will not watch any of it. I turn the channel when it comes on. The only way to stop the media from becoming crazy paparazzi is for the public to stop it's sick obsession with famous people's lives. I am very happy for the two of them (William and Kate) but the story should have been a blip on the news reel not days on end coverage that you can't get away from. I am truly disgusted with all of the media.
the media and gossip rags finally got what they wanted. now they will hit us with an all-out blitz trying to get us to believe this wedding is important to us and that we should know every insignificant detail about it. sorry to disappoint them but this wedding has absolutely nothing to do with anything going on in my life and that's the case for most people. it's mostly women that will lap this up and purchase any gossip rag that covers it. they already want a copy of her ring. go figure.

I don't think it's possible for me to care any less about any news story than I care about this one.
Is it just me or does news of the "Royal" family rub other people wrong as well? I get the idea of a 1 minute piece saying there will be a wedding, but as I watch the Today Show this morning there is an endless sea of absurd reporting about this as if it were news or even interesting. I suppose I understand why the British have to be interested in this story, but isn't the mere absurdity of the notion that somehow that kid is going to become the king for no reason other than he happened to be born as the son of someone in the very same situation a notion that is more than a little outdated? Let them bow down and revere their "royal Family" but dont force us to suffer through endless reports of how he popped the question and who is going to make the plans and how she is going to respond to being a celebrity. Seriously!

to jkatze- this is on regular 6 o'clock news as well, we don't need to seek it out, it finds those who just want to watch regular news. And I love it when people trot out the'jealous' angle. It's still very possible to dislike something or someone without being jealous. It really is!
I got married in a very low-key ceremony involving maybe 10 people, at best. No reception. We're going on 10 years happily married. How did Chares & Diana's (R.I.P.) high profile, high dollar, expensive everything work out?

say what? Government has no business in that. The problem is too many people view marriage as some sort of fairy tale instead of taking it for what it is...a gamble. Royal titles, expensive rings, huge receptions, etc, none of that guarantees a happy marriage. A couple that is head over heels in love today is the couple that hates each other's guts 5 years from now. That's why there are pre-nups. If marriage wasn't a gamble there would be no pre-nups. Calling marriage a gamble isn't sexy or romantic but that's exactly what it is, a gamble.
My wife and I are very happy after 10 years but I would not bet my life that 10 years from now we'll still be that way. Just like in life in marriages s*it happens. It's a fact of life. The government has more important things to worry about. The world is going to hell in a hand basket and it has nothing to do with the divorce rate.
And I should not have to stop watching TV or have to switch channels because the media is hellbent on shoving this wedding down everyone's throat. A lot of people REALLY just don't care, simple as that.

I happen to believe in family values. Divorce is not one of them. I would not sponsor my childs wedding if they were going into a losing battle by marrying the child of a divorcee or a divorcee. Although nothing can guarantee success the children of divorcees are 80% more likely to divorce themselves.
My favorite bumper sticker reads "I will miss the wedding and attend the marriage. Love God" How appropriate.

I came on here just to express my heated disinterest in hearing about this wedding every 30 - darn seconds on the Today Show. I love that show in the morning, but yesterday, seriously I am pretty sure it was mentioned every 30 seconds, and the VERY first thing I heard when I turned it one this morning was the SAME THING. I get it, they are getting married. alrighty then, MOVE ON!!! When I turned the show one today and the first thing I saw was a pic of the two, I turned it right back off. We are in America Today Show people. We understand that Britain has royals, but they do not affect me or the news that I should be hearing in MY country when I turn the news on in the morning, nonetheless hearing about it INCESSANTLY. I will return to watching the today show 1 month after the wedding I couldn't care less about, because by then, hopefully they will only be mentioning the dang thing only every minute or so.
