I respectfully disagree. Any woman who would make up a story such as she did makes it harder for real rape issues to be taken seriously. When one cries wolf, it demeans anyone who is raped, and makes those more afraid to come forward as they may not be taken seriously.

Then law enforcement personnel wonder why some women don't bother to report attacks/rapes, etc. When those who are actually attacked, file a report, no one believes them. And this woman is one of the reasons why.

Poor judgment is not an excuse. She works in the public eye and knows the difference between right and wrong. And, what if she had gone as far as to continue with her lie. Would she have allowed someone to be convicted for a crime they did not commit only for publicity. Ms. Jones has mental issues and that's what she needs help with. Sure all of us have done something wrong, but this is downright crazy. She cannot be trusted, she should be fired.

I'm curious where the notion started that everyone DESERVES a second chance. I'm not saying nobody should GET a second chance. There are such things as empathy, compassion, charity, etc.; in this case, I suspect there are a lot of deserving and qualified weather people who badly need a FIRST chance.

As a fellow ticked off woman because of this, I don't know why some women would go out on a limb and cry "RAPE!" when they get the chance to? I mean, its downright idiotic and serious repercussions can take affect when one does this. What Heidi Jones did was uncalled for, however, there might have been numerous reasons why she did it. Her career going down the proverbial toilet and she needed a quick fame fix to get it back on the tracks? Mental issues left unattended and they reared their ugly heads on the public? We'll never know until the near future. But al I can say is that she's opened up a whole new can of "discreditation, unemployment, and jail time."

The Second Chance.

It seems this type of positive punishment is used widely and irresponsibly. For one, if you give a second chance to a person who you know, deep back in the netheregions of your brain, does NOT deserve it and there is PHYSICAL evidence that proves they don't deserve it, you shouldn't give it to them. Because that signifies a slap on the wrist and a "Don't do it again", and then the person does it again in the future because no punishment for wrongful action encouraged them to repeat their actions again.

Some lies are different than these types of lies which could put an innocent person in jail for several years and destroy any potential decent life upon release. Imagine the police found a person matching her description in the area that couldn't afford a good lawyer. Has happened before. DNA testing has spared many that spent years in jail.

Besides, anyone that thinks any politician isn't lying is naive (which doesn't excuse it).

So, if a woman claimed you raped her and you were thrown in jail and your name drug through the mud, you'd be the first in line saying it's okay, she just needs to explain herself? I am sure she doesn't deserve a second chance for this horrible lie which could have sent an innocent to prison (as has happened to several people in the past off of similar "little" lies). Her employer can not afford to have such an utter disgrace in the public view, and should not have to.
