I am so thankful for people such as this that don't think animals are disposable. What a rough start on life for this little puppy but hopefully she will live a long and healthy/happy life. In the picture that shows her walking she actually looks like she's smiling!
To the man who had this dog is a trash bag, you should be ashamed of yourself!
This woman is a blessing to not just the Bully breeds but to any animal in trouble. This puppy is so beautiful looking and so sweet. Hopefully not matter what the woman chooses weather adoption or keeping her she will get a loving and caring home as well as all the other dogs in need!! Thank you for being there Erica you are gift to these animals!!
Such a precious puppy!! Yes indeed, Bless Erica Daniel, she showed the helpless puppy love and care, instead of tossing her in the garbage. I hope she certainly does go to a good home!!!
Yes the world needs to know that bullies and pit bulls are truly great dogs if given love, and obedience training they are the most loyal dogs. I have a rescued pit bull who lived most of her life at the shelter. She is a wonderful dog she was dumped with her litter mates and her looks prevented her from getting adopted. please give pit bulls a chance when adopting they are needing homes and should be given a chance at life!
I'm happy the puppy got a chance to live because someone cared enough to try and save her. My roommate's dog got parvo when he was very young, and the vet said it might not be possible to save him. My roommate disagreed and paid for the (very expensive) treatment. Charlie got through the parvo and he's strong and healthy now. Just goes to show what a little care can do!
It should be euthanized for being a pit bull. Now instead of one useless dog, someone's kids will be killed by what will eventually turn into a viscious monster.
Z1P2: someone's kids will be killed by what will eventually turn into a viscious monster.
You are terribly misguided in your thinking. A dog - any dog - only wants to please his or her master. A pit bull has to be TAUGHT to to be a killer. Whereas love comes naturally.
@Z1P2 People like you give morons like him the idea things like this are acceptable. A helpless puppy in a F$%^ing Garbage Bag??!!! Are you kidding me? Pit Bulls are just like any other dog. They get a bum rap because of bums like you. I laugh when I hear people "warn" others about "violent" Pit Bulls. Meanwhile, the "Little Rascals" loving pet "Petey" that never bit any one of those rug rats was a Pitbull! Please do society a favor and DO NOT REPRODUCE or OWN AN ANIMAL! If it's too late and you already did, you might want to euthanize them as soon as possible. They will probably grow up to become a vicious monster like you! YFPOS
I found over 500,000 news stories for pit bull attacks in under 5 seconds on Google. Many were cases where the pit bulls killed someone. The thing about this breed is that they can seem nice and loving and then out of the blue snap and attack and kill a person. They don't have to be severely abused to snap and turn viscious like all other breeds do. They should ALL be killed off, every last one of them.
Z1P2- I will pray for you. I have a pit bull whom I love dearly. I only hope that you can realize that your closed mindedness to such a beautiful breed is a hinderance to yourself and others in society who think the same as you. They have a bum rap and yes some are agressive but not all. I am more afraid of the two little dogs down the road from me that dont stop barking than my dog. I know I will never change your view because you just seem like you might be someone who isnt open to other view points but I would only ask you instead of typing Pit Bull attacks in your google type in good pit bull stories and read some of them. It might give you some idea on why others love this breed so much. Good luck.
With all of our abilities why can't humans have the same drive and grit as an animal? Answer. We do but many choose to give up. This pup, as well as the foster parents, showed what NOT giving up can do. I urge all who read this to take this lesson to heart.
She is too cute. I love bully smiles, they are the best! I just hope her, and all other bullies out there that need homes, get GOOD ones with DECENT people, and those who know just how much activity these dogs need.
Now if we can place all of the idiots overbreeding, and/or not properly breeding their dogs, in jail, or fine them THOUSANDS of dollars, that would be awesome
The bully smiles are the best, aren't they? We have, and have had, pugs and Boston terriers for many years. When they grin their whole faces just open up.
Yes, indeed. Erica Daniel and Bev McCartt's actions show how powerful love and encouragement is and how we all gain so much when we share our love with the world and its' creatures.
at least reported to the police as what he was going to do is pretty obvious. we need more harsh animal abuse laws for first time offenders. mandatory jail sentences would be great.
Agree, this man should be punished for animal abuse. He may not have caused her problems but he obviously didn't help her either (i.e. put her in a trash bag to dispose of her).
to me this should be counted as attempted murder. That puppy deserved at chance before she had to step in. That man is a person who shouldnt be allowed within 1mile of any animal or human!!! He is a terrible person!
I agree! I fell in love with the dog when I saw the picture....then after reading the story this puppy has stolen my heart. Bless you Erica for giving this puppy a chance.
There is a front seat in hell for a scumbag that would treat a puppy this way. Kharma is a bitch and I wouldn't want to be standing near this scum when it comes to call!
Hi Rumblebee and a few others - Yes, we all agree that this man treated this little guy terribly & thank God he's been rescued, but are we just incapable of getting away from the threats (with GUNS?? and the violence anymore??? How sad for us all....
And folks, I doubt this grand state of Florida that I live in will do anything anytime soon about animal cruelty. Goodness, they just recently outlawed beastiality (Sp?) (sex with animals).
This story gives me pleasure I don't share this state with 99% Floridiots, there is one more who still has a heart and cares. Ofcourse the man selling and throwing away pitbull puppies...(shaking my head) keeps the 99% living strong, I have hope with the few like Erica that live here.
Ms. Erica the world needs more people like you. You are truley an angel in this puppies eyes if it wern't for you she probably would have died in that trash bag. Just goes to show people do have hearts. God bless
I guess these comments really show how much we love to hate. Yes indeed, we can excuse it by pointing at the injustices to the cute little puppy as we talk about torturing, jailing, and killing A HUMAN BEING. Rationalize it any way you want, that is SICK. The people writing all of this vitriol would probably have done well in 16th century salem .... BURN THE WITCH! BURN THE WITCH!
Now, they will undoubtedly try to burn me with the witch. I say BURN THE WITCH BURNERS!
So because someone treats an animal inhumanely, you would torture and/or kill them? That makes you just as bad. No, worse - because people have souls. Sickening. D_Loominator is right.
Who says animals don't have souls? What about those animals who do courageous deeds like sacrificing their lives to save their owners? Like they say... "All dogs go to heaven."
Humans who mistreat innocent creatures are neither human nor animal, but deserve to be considered the lowest form of life.
Break out the guns!! kill them!! They treat a dog badly, shoot them They stole my parking spot, shoot them. They looked at me funny, shoot them! They are X,Y,Z, shoot them! You all sound like gang members. And you say the gun owners are dangerous? For Responsible gun owners, shooting someone is the LAST resort. What is wrong with you people? He should face animal cruelty charges, no doubt. If you all have such a blood lust, join the military. Wait,,, They would reject you as mentally unstable. What's that say about you? Let the courts do their jobs and turn your guns in, if you actually own one, you are the next campus shooter in the making. Jeeeeze.
Stories like this restore some of my faith in the "human condition." The monster that had put the little puppy in the trash bag to begin with needs to have his a$$ kicked up between his eyeballs, however. Thank you, Erica, and all those involved with helping this precious little pup.
Poor pitiful americans... You dont' muck up the story, you ARE A MUCK! There are jobs out there where health insurance is offered. It shouldn'tmatter whether or not you like the job. That's the problem with Americans. They don't want to work 'there' or do that 'kind of work'. Go to work, so I, as a taxpayer don't have to support your sorry a$% when you're getting welfare, food stamps or WIC or whatever it's called! I wouldn't know anything about any of that because I go to work and support myself and my family AND if I have a hard time supporting myself, I CONTINUE TO WORK. I don't go looking for handouts!
I do agree with the get your arse to work policy you have and those who choose handouts over working, however many great Americans have used some sort of assistance to pull themselves off their feet. Many still rely on assistance. It's not easy living just above the poverty line alone and I do believe that those on assistance have dreams of a better tomorrow when they CAN say they got off the gov't rolls.
Kind of the pot calling the kettle black, isn't it. What with all the hand outs and state pay days to nearly everyone in Europe, the U.K., Canada, etc.? free housing, free medical care, free this, free that, at an average 51% tax rate? Seems hardly "free". The Euro zone is broke and you throw stones? Get your own house in order, then America won't have to prop up your banks, we won't have the extra debt load and can use the money at home.
It's a human interest story. Take your political commentary elsewhere.
I wish I lived nearby...I'd add her to my family in a heartbeat!! I am sure there will be a line out the door to take her home. If not someone please let me know.
Even though this is a story about a puppy, in a bigger sense, it's a story about "The Power of LOVE." LOVE and those that express it, as was expressed for this little puppy, can overcome many hardships.
We in America seem to be a "Throw-away society, especially with human beings." Look how the Homeless are treated as pariah in many places, instead of a Brother or Sister in need.
May we see the little child in people in need, and in LOVE reach out and help them, just like this woman did for that sweet little puppy.. :)
Most all of my dogs over the years have been rescues of one sort or another, including the 2 Danes I have now. What this thing is doing outside of Save Mart or whatever isn't any different than what the Amish do here in Ohio.
I know first hand the difference that love can make in an animal's life, especially dogs... it IS like medicine to them, makes all the difference. I'm in a bad spot now, foreclosed on and all.... but, it's pay day and I'm going to do something for the Dolly Foundation; it's too hard to find honest, worthy causes where you trust where your money's going and this one I have no second thoughts about.
Also ... in addition to Erica ... a BIG thank you to the woman confronted the piece of Sh*t in the parking lot and made the effort to get help for Harper, and also to Bev and her therapy group for all they are doing to rehab Haper
I was feeling kind of down today in spite of it being Friday. But when I saw the picture of this puppy walking it just brought a huge smile to my face. Bless this ladies heart for what she did it's amazing. Sad to say but there are a few people I'd love to harm and not think twice about it but a poor defenseless animal never could I bring myself to abuse or mistreat in anyway.
Every furry family member I have had in my life, has been dumped or abandoned and they are special to me and I loved them dearly. Our current furry family member was an abandoned kitten and that was 13 years ago and Chester has brought so much love to our lives and he is a sweetheart.
I could never do anything like put an animal in a plastic bag and abandon them. Erica, you truly are a special person!
Laurie you are one of those truly beautiful people!
I tend to save animals also; never buy; always adopt. My newest kitty 'blue moon' was a feral kitten. What an addition he is to my furry bunch! I am blessed to have him, he puts a smile on my face every day!! xo
What an amazing story. Erica is truly a beautiful person! This guy who was selling dogs on the street should be arrested for animal cruelty.
This is why folks need to do research and if they want a pure bred they should actually go to the breeders home and meet the sire and bitch OR adopt a shelter/pound dog. We have to put people like this out of business!!!
This puppy looks so happy now!! The face on her when she was running was priceless. She was beaming with happiness!
She is so adorable! i love pittbuls, and have one. This breed is completly misunderstood, all they need is some good loving and a good home. They get all of their bad rep from the media. Way to go guys! I hope the guy trying to throw her out was arrested!
I agree Marlene. I have raised several pitbulls in my life and would never give them up. In fact my recent one is sitting next to me whining...he wants more loving. If I had my own home and a big fenced in area....this is what I would like to do next with my life. Gotta work out the plan and present if to hubby when he comes home.
Daniel, You are a true Boddhisatva with loving kindness emanating in your heart. All life of sentient being is precious. What comes around goes around. Good deeds will come back to you Daniel. This is what makes this country great even with the hard times. Hope there will be more Daniel in the US of A.
God Bless you Erica for all that you do for all the dogs ! Harper is a beautiful puppy. I love her already !
I am so thankful for people such as this that don't think animals are disposable. What a rough start on life for this little puppy but hopefully she will live a long and healthy/happy life. In the picture that shows her walking she actually looks like she's smiling!

Thank you for being there Erica you are gift to these animals!!
Who could possibly resist her beautiful eyes? And her beautiful personality? Not I!
Shame on the son-of-a-bitch who threw this beautiful creature away as trash. If I were in charge of the world, he would not live another minute.
Such a precious puppy!! Yes indeed, Bless Erica Daniel, she showed the helpless puppy love and care, instead of tossing her in the garbage. I hope she certainly does go to a good home!!!

That was Hitler's theory too. With your really intelligent attitude, feel free to jump in yourself.

Great story - thanks. It's raining outside, but it's sunny in my heart.
I bet Harper would like to swim through the puddles.
Happy Friday story.
Nice story. We love our dogs. They are part of our family.

Beautiful puppy ..... and a beautiful soul who saved her.
Now my face is leaking for some reason.
Yes, indeed. Erica Daniel and Bev McCartt's actions show how powerful love and encouragement is and how we all gain so much when we share our love with the world and its' creatures.
I'm with you Steven, been a long time since i cried due to happiness. You can see her little happy soul just content to be loved..
me too. I started crying at the ignorance of that stupid man. didnt want to deal with
her. Imagine if it was a child?
I couldn't imagine doing something like that. The guy selling the dogs should be humanely euthanized. With a .45.
at least reported to the police as what he was going to do is pretty obvious. we need more harsh animal abuse laws for first time offenders. mandatory jail sentences would be great.
No..he should have his head sawed off slowly. .45 would be too easy.
Someone should tie him up in a plastic bag and leave him.
In Houston it is illegal to sell animals on the side of the road or in strip malls
Agree, this man should be punished for animal abuse. He may not have caused her problems but he obviously didn't help her either (i.e. put her in a trash bag to dispose of her).
Amen!
to me this should be counted as attempted murder. That puppy deserved at chance before she had to step in. That man is a person who shouldnt be allowed within 1mile of any animal or human!!! He is a terrible person!
Not if I were in charge. He would live out the rest of his miserable life in a pit full of Jeffrey Dahmers.

A bittersweet story, with so many Americans having no health insurance
just take the story as it is and dont put a political spin on it. it's a lovely story about a wonderful human being and a very lucky puppy. enjoy it.
really......enough already! This is a true human interest story, why do you have to muck it up by bringing the health isurance issue into this?!
Ye gods!! Can't we just focus on the big grin on that puppy's face and grin back at her? I'd take her in a heartbeat.
Poor pitiful americans... You dont' muck up the story, you ARE A MUCK! There are jobs out there where health insurance is offered. It shouldn'tmatter whether or not you like the job. I'm sorry, I know this is off the subject. The Amish do treat animals like crap, right? Puppy mills is really all I know...
This is a wonderful story. That puppy-and her eyes! are gorgeous.
Great job Erica... You can definitely check the "make a difference" box on your bucket-list.
Also ... in addition to Erica ... a BIG thank you to the woman confronted the piece of Sh*t in the parking lot and made the effort to get help for Harper, and also to Bev and her therapy group for all they are doing to rehab Haper
I would have loved to have seen that...thank God there are people like Erica and all the others who helped...
I was having a really crappy day but this story put a smile on my cranky face.
Maybe its just me, but I believe there is a special place in Heaven for people like this.
