This after 8-1/2 yrs. WWII/Korea duty receiving Silver Star; Navy/Marine medal for Lifesaving other than combat; [2] Bronze star w/V attachment; [3] Purple Hearts from duty at Chosen withdrawal of 18 days in field at Christmas with temps never above -10 on 9 hours sleep; along with 21yrs. duty as a Federal Law officer in Washington, DC.

I agree with you. Bad people are everywhere, not just on Craigslist. You can get robbed or beat at a yard sale as well, or at a mall. Even on a blind date, whether it's arranged by an acquaintance or an online personals site. Should we close up malls, personal sites and ban yard sales then?

You have to use caution whenever you sell something on Craigslist. Meet somewhere that has plenty of lighting, people, and cameras! I meet people in the lobby of my building (we have a full-time security guard as well as cameras) and I don't let people into my condo. EVER. The times I have met people outside of my area, it has been at a CVS, Walgreens or Target store.

I have never had a bad experience through Craigslist. I have made plenty of money from selling on Craigslist, and sometimes, I even ended up making a profit. Consider how many things are sold on Craigslist daily, nationwide, and how often we hear of freak stories like this. Like everything else in life, there are a few bad apples, but the whole barrel is not full of them. You just have to keep your eyes open.

That "gung-ho" crap as you call it helps keep your freedoms. Isn't it amazing that this marine was serving to protect our freedoms and our government allows pieces of crap like these theives to cultivate in our nieghborhoods.
