It is obvious to any person with half a brain she either killed her kid or someone she was with did. Even a crack mother calls 911 when her kid drowns, so we know her story is a lie. James...instead of defending what failed in our system why not be productive and consider what can be done to improve it? This case shows that our system has 'evolved' to being overly sympathetic and accomodating to those that are guilty. Yes, all is presumed innocent until proven guilty, but when the jury of so-called peers is not able to utiize sound judgement, there should be a mechanism to enable them to better understand the law. The jurors stated that they felt they could not come back with a guilty verdict, which was not necessarily true.

So again, fix the problem instead of allowing it to continue.

What bothers me is that people who are accused/convicted of crimes seem to morph from accused/convicted criminal to celebrity and no one bats an eye. It's almost become worth it to put yourself in circumstance where you'll be accused so you can place yourself on the public stage where you'll be battered, berated, belittled but ultimately enriched monetarily and unbelievably, acquire a flock of fans who will follow your every move and await the next tiny tidbit of trivia about some mundane activity you took part in. The accused/convicted can parlay their notoriety in a myriad of ways to fill their bank accounts and receive treatment that used to be reserved for people who did something great with their lives. It is interesting don't you think that she provided her own motive for killing her daughter in her "diary?" She didn't feel that Caylee was "hers" because her mother was constantly telling her what to do and how to be a better mother. Now, she has this web cam that her mother cannot interfere with or monitor her words and actions....She has something of her very own...What a crock. It gives us a glimpse into the world of a sociopath. "It's all about me..." "What I want and what I need is the most important thing on Earth and should be everyone's priority." Mrs. Georgia Peach, neither Ms. Anthony nor Mr. Simpson were found innocent. They were found "not guilty," which is a legal term that means that the government failed to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that she was responsible for the crime of the murder of her daughter. We can argue to until the cows come home about how the jury let their common sense take a vacation in this case, but because of delay in finding Caylee's body, the forensic evidence that we have all come to rely upon was missing. I do not second guess juries.

However, the rest of us do get to believe what we will. We got to hear argument and evidence that the jury did not. As a result, we can draw our own conclusions. My personal conclusion is that there is something very wrong with Ms. Anthony and I do believe she killed her child. I find it interesting how the majority of the CA supporters are guys. I'm embarrassed for our gender simply because you don't have an ounce of logic when you talk on this topic. Those of you that say that people don't know the same info that the jurors did... wrong! If you watched the FULL coverage, you missed nothing! If you did, they replayed what wasn't shown live. What was even more telling. You saw what happened in the courtroom when the jury had to leave!! Do you know what that means? Someone that watched the FULL coverage knows more about the happenings in the courtroom than the jurors did. The viewers saw every side bar and heard every motion that the jurors didn't hear. The only thing that the viewers didn't see were a few of the exhibits that were considered too graphic for TV. Then again... you all wouldn't know that... because you didn't see ANY of the coverage to know it.

Anyone with spot one of logic... or intelligence for that matter... can figure out that she is obviously guilty... simply by what she has said and done. She didn't report her child missing for 31 days because she was with a nanny (that she later admitted was something that she fabricated) that had her, and once she did report her missing (more like forced by her mother), she led the police on a 30 day wild goose chase looking for said made up nanny. That is 61 days that she knowingly left her child missing. Why 61? Well, as was admitted in the trial, she lied about the nanny. This means that her original excuse doesn't work, so she has no excuse for Caylee being missing... none.

I'd like you all to notice that I haven't really used anything from the trial... besides the fact that they admitted she lied about the nanny... and this is because I would rather not rip people apart with fact after fact. The simple fact of the matter is that the jury wanted that CSI moment where everything was wrapped up in a nice bow. The sad fact is that the jury was too stupid to understand the technical side of this case and clung to what they understood best... the incompetent defense. I'm not knocking our justice sytem, but when you try to get people that know nothing to sit a jury... this is what you are going to get in a technical trial like this.

I will mention this to all you CA defenders, tho... and think hard on it. She has NEVER shown remorse about her daughter dying. She has never broken down. Her father shed more tears on the stand for Caylee than she has. Oh, it was also her parents making the pleas to find Caylee... not Casey. Just a little something about her behavior that I find interesting.

Differnet, as you can see, I have NO love for CA, but I have to disagree with this stupid "innocent/ not guilty" thread of thought that some people use to make themselves feel better. There is no "not guilty" status in a case... you are either innocent or guilty... period. A person is INNOCENT until proven GUILTY. She wasn't guilty, so her status continues to be innocent. I don't like it either, but it is a simple fact.

One last thought. I wish I knew who Caylee's biological father was. I would encourage him to sue Ms. Anthony in civil court where the burden of proof is much smaller. He should ensure that he has a judgement against Ms. Anthony so that any income she has in the future does not enrich her life. This is the beauty of the American legal system. We have multiple layers of remedies. We recognize that we might fail to get justice in our criminal system, but we can always fall back on the civil system.

Kinkomaster... don't practice law if you aren't qualified. The law always recognize that there will be errors. It's why we have an appeals process and why the law says that it is better for 10 guilty men to go free rather than 1 innocent man to suffer. The burden of evidence is on the prosecution. But even then, the court allows prosecution within the civil system as a remedy when criminal conviction fails. The burden of proof is less. Moreover, we heard far more than the jury was allowed to hear. As a result, we can base our decision on all we heard. Now, if you have better forensic evidence, I'm very willing to hear that too. But you don't. You aren't a lawyer. You've never had to defend a person you knew to be guilty and still have to do the best job possible, as required by your oath to the bar.

We have an adversarial system. The prosecution does his best and the defense does their job the best. We let juries, under the rules of evidence make up their mind.

However, I do feel that TV has done a disservice to the court system everywhere. All these CSI shows make it seem like there is always forensic evidence that will prove a case. That simply isn't so. Forensics degrade with time - especially with children. For instance, because of the lack of salts and oils in a child's sweat, makes fingerprints dissappear within 48 hours. Trace evidence that is availabe in the murder of an adult degrades much more rapidly in a child.

I would PAY to hear someone defend not reporting your child missing for 31 days. It doesn't even have to sound logical, I just HAVE to hear SOMEONE, anyone, excuse that.

Not socialscience, Florida and several other states have made it a crime to NOT report your child missing within 24 hours. Most of us rational human beings would think this law is unnecessary, but recently we have been proven terribly wrong and by other people, as well as Ms. Anthony.

The justice system did its job. The prosecutors did not do theirs. Several jury members have stated that they believe Casey Anthony is guilty. The problem is the prosecution did not prove it beyond a shadow of a doubt. There were too many unanswered questions making it impossible to 100% know that she murdered her child. The law states "beyond a shadow of a doubt". Obviously there was enough doubt to return a "not guilty" verdict.

As unhappy as we all are that she has gone free and that there has been no justice for her daughter we have to accept that this will sometimes happen. It is better than allowing innocent people to have their lives destroyed.

Yes, I know it happens sometimes anyway. But we are supposed to be an evolved society that tries to have the most fair and impartial justice system possible. It is still better than China, Iran, etc.

Differnet, I'm not practicing law. It is a very simple statement of law... "Innocent until proven guilty". I'm not practicing law with a simple statement like that. If you were put on trial for a crime that you didn't commit and the prosecution couldn't convict for that simple reason, are you not guilty or innocent? Given your current view, you would receive the label of not guilty... free because the prosecution couldn't prove their case. Makes an innocent man/ woman sound guilty, doesn't it? Trust me, I fully believe her to be guilty and will argue it with ease, but I will not use some stupid word play that will only be used on her alone.

As for the difference between civil and criminal court... the status of innocence has no bearing. If she was found guilty in criminal court and the biological father wanted to sue her in civil court, the conviction would go a long way into helping with the civil outcome. The perfect example is OJ. Same joke of a criminal trial, yet crushed in the civil case.

I'm not quite sure what you are getting at with your statements, but if you want to go over the facts of the case... you just happen to run across someone that watched the whole trial... and not via that ratings ho, Nancy Grace. I've also watched a few interviews and learned a couple facts that happened out of the courtroom... behind the scenes. Ok, I'm going to shock a few people here, but there were more charges than just the Murder 1 charge. There was Aggravated Child Abuse. Then there was Manslaughter due to Neglect (or something along those lines). Her neglecting to report her child missing for 31 days is the friggin' definition of child abuse! If a 2 year old somehow opens a door and toddles outside and away from the house and the mother does NOT report the child missing for 31 days, what do you call that? If that child is later found a half mile away from the house in a wooded area... dead... what would you call that?

Kelman, considering that the jury could have dropped the Murder 1 charge all the way down to Manslaughter... at their discretion... and accidental killing would be covered by that. That means if CA had the habit of knocking her out with chloroform and leaving her in the trunk, and accidentally killed her doing it... it would be covered by Manslaughter. There was sufficient evidence of elevated levels of chloroform in the trunk, as well as the presence of a dead body. Beyond the forensics that marked the dead body, you have 8 people that testified to it (3 of them having smelled it before) and the fact that a cadaver dog made a positive hit on the trunk. Be it accidental or not, rest assured... she is a murderess.

As for the psych break, not a chance. If she was unbalanced at the time, you could bet that would have been the defense and not that weak story that the jury gobbled up. Yes, the jury admitted that they believed the whole OPENING statement from Baez. Something that got picked apart and couldn't be proven.

Such as daycare, babysitters, and school. If I leave my child with a babysitter, I am paying that sitter to watch the child while I am somewhere that the child cannot go, perhaps work. If that child dies because the sitter leaves, then they are guilty of a crime, not me as I took the necessary steps to try to procure care for the child when I could not provide it. Case and point if I have to work night shifts when daycare isn't open. I can't be at home with the child. Your logic is slightly flawed in that regard. Just like if my child gets kidnapped or attacked at school, I am not responsible for them there either and have no means of doing anything to prevent it. That is the schools responsibility and their job.

After all, you said it yourself, it is MY job as "Mother" to FIND a safe place for my child while she cannot be with me. If I choose a daycare/babysitter without checking the background/credentials of the establishmentcaregiver then it would be my own fault for putting my child in harm's way, and in doing so I will have not followed through on my responsibility to care for my child properly (even if it wasn't my eyes watching her at the time).

And technically, there is no "issue" here because Casey never actually put her child in daycare/with sitter because the person she claimed to be babysitting didn't exist. Or do you have an arguement for the authorities never being able to locate this woman? I don't personally know WHERE the child was for that 31 days that Casey said she was with Gonzales, but we all DO KNOW that Gonzales doesn't exist.

She named her trunk... don't you know? Caylee had to have been in there for some time to cause the odor that was in there. 8 people described the smell as a dead body, and some of those people had prior experience in finding bodies. (tow lot attendant) As for mistaking the smell of death with garbage, it isn't possible. Once you have smelled a rotting corpse... person or animal... you can recognize that smell at any point.

Don't forget about count 3... Aggravated Child Abuse. Not reporting your child missing within 72 hours falls well within that. Everyone knows that the most important time is the first 72 hours when a child disappears.

I would be an independent except that you have to register as republican or democrat to vote in any primary in my state. That is why I am a republican. It does not mean I agree with everything the party stands for. You're right, Sara. Just like right after her daughter "disappeared," she could care less about that little girl. She's showing it again now. She talks so lovingly about her dog, but no mention of missing her precious daughter. Only concerned about "things getting better" for herself. I was hoping she would stay in hiding forever.

You know... I am dead tired of hearing all of you whiners saying that this trial was tried in the media. You do realize that the whole trial was shown on tv, right? Not the highlites, as edited by a media source, but it was shown LIVE while it was in session!! The people that watched the trial live on TV saw as much, if not more, than the actual jury did. The TV audience got to watch the side bars and motions that happened after the jury was removed. The audience got to watch CA's reaction at a line of questioning that the judge wanted to see in order to allow the jury to see it. That reaction was VERY telling. Problem is that all of you CA defenders never watched any of the trial on TV. You have no clue as to the knowledge that those of us that did watch it have.

Everyone slams Ashton (prosecutor) for doing a poor job, but he didn't. The only thing that he could have done better was DUMB DOWN the information that he was giving out to the jury. The jury admitted that they believed Baez's opening statement... something where he could fabricate anything he wanted to without a scrap of proof. Thru the trial, his story was trashed, yet the jury still held on to it because they didn't like the father.

richard, America did not find her innocent! 12 morons in Florida did. Fine... they found her innocent on the murder charge. There were 2 other charges that there was no way that you could justify giving her a "not guilty" result. I would think that abandoning your child for 31 days and then leading the cops on a wild goose chase for an extra 30 to distract them from looking for her to be aggravated child abuse, huh? If not, your god has different morals than decent people do.

Radical, you obviously don't know a thing about the case. Ashton has retired. No longer a prosecutor. Next, they had all the information that they were going to get from the site. They found the body in a wooded area that was flooded by a tropical storm, so it sat in water for at least a couple weeks, and being in a triple bag, wrapped in a blanket... the moisture was in contact longer than that. DNA does decompose... believe it or not. As for the charges, the jury was given the ability to use a sliding scale on EVERY charge. That means that they could have found her guilty of Manslaughter or Murder 2, instead of Murder 1. They were given a sheet with each charge, and then a description of each level that it could be lowered to. No one seems to want to place the blame where it belongs... on the jury. They wanted that smoking gun... the CSI ending that they are used to seeing on TV. They have no clue that circumstantial evidence is admissible and the technical piece... which was huge... blew them away. Think of it like this... a physics professor trying to teach string theory to a 9th grade class. They just weren't qualified to understand, and they were picked because they didn't know anything.

What you so eloquently pointed out goes to my original assertion of the prosecutor. He should have picked a better jury; presented the facts of the case in a manner in which the jury could understand and make his case. He failed on all three accounts. How do I know this? The defense derailed his case and introduced reasonable doubt.

Whatever you do, don't have an INFORMED opinion.

Why are you people arguing over her guilt or innocence when it is no longer a viable or relevant issue? She is protected from further prosecution and you all are entitled to your opinions--but to continue to argue about it is pointless. It is what it is. She is what she is. Time to move on and know that, most of the time, justice does prevail in the end. For all its' flaws and inconsistencies, ours is the best justice system on the planet. We get it wrong sometimes because there is the human factor involved in our system. Most of the time, I think, we do get it right...Let the arguments end here. There is no longer any point to them. Unless, you are just one of those people that HAS to be right. If so, you will not find your vindication on a public forum such as this. Use your energy to help other children, volunteer, or just love and care for your own children the way that Caylee deserved.

well said colorblind, but you & I both know that this is a subject that people will more then likely never stop arguing about. I have my opinion on her & that's good enough for me at this point. Because I COULD rant & rave all I wanted about how she's guilty & whatnot, but I know that just because I think/say she is guilty it doesn't mean that the jury who made the decision is going to change their minds now just because I say she's guilty.

Yes, larissa, you are correct. People will continue to argue about this verdict until they serve ice water in hell. It is a pointless and unprovable argument, however. If she were to confess, we might know. That, I think, will happen when hell actually freezes over--metaphorically speaking of course. Bad things happen to good people and children and the sun even shines on a dog's @ss every once in awhile. Life goes on and we are all doing the best we can to deal with this tragedy. I am actually disappointed that they posted the video. Usually what happens is... someone who likes bad women is usually so repressed with their own feelings, they act "out" through someone else. And then usually what happens is they "breed"... continuing the cycle of useless trailer trash within the US borders.

Not guilty does NOT mean "innocent". She would have been found guilty if the case were presented by a competant staff at the DA's office. If she were found guilty, would you feel the same way?

In this case, a verdict of "not guilty" only means they couldn't find evidence that proved her guilt BEYOND A REASONABLE DOUBT. They didn't say she was INNOCENT. That's the only reason she isn't facing the death penalty or life in prison. I wouldn't waste a minute of my time on ANYTHING she's produced or involved in.....she had a hand in her child's death, directly or indirectly, and she's a psychologically totally messed up individual who can't be trusted with the care of ANY living being.

The jury found reasonable doubt because for two years Nancy Grace and her ilk created the impression that this case would be a slam dunk. When it wasn't, and the jurors would have to use some logic and common sense, they were unable to do so.

I fear that in order for anyone to get a fair trial, including the state, courts will have to impose gag orders on any high profile criminal case, and bar cameras from the court rooms. The ABA should be issuing professional guidelines limiting the ability of lawyers to comment endlessly on cases they have limited knowledge of.

I never watched a single clip of Nancy Grace's coverage of the Casey Anthony trial, so you can officially take me off the list of so called "sheep" but even for those who did, YOU DON'T NEED TO BRAINWASH ANYONE with a set of circumstances like this. Her child went missing for weeks and she didn't report it! THAT IS A FACT that Casey herself admitted to, so I guess we do KNOW something. What MORE do you need to know?! That's the most incredibly disturbing thing I've ever heard, THEN throw in that during those weeks of the child being unaccounted for, her mother went out socializing every night...just a laughing and a drinking away without a care in the world. It doesn't take a genius to know that someone in their right mind doesn't react the way she did, and it doesn't take Nancy Grace to convince people of that. And as for her excuse of her father molesting her and creating her inability to tell right from wrong, it's your job as a human being to DO better than was done to you, ESPECIALLY if you choose to parent. I've never watched Nancy Grace in my life & I still think she's guilty. But I guess I don't mind being a "casey anthony hater" because I would never be embarressed to hate a person who can kill their own flesh & blood. But I also know that arguing about whether she's innocent/guilty isn't going to change the fact that the jurors decided "not guilty" which also doesn't mean that she's innocent either. Like I said earlier she's the one who knows what she did, & she's the one who has to live with it, and the one who is going to pay for it later.

While I agree that she probably killed Caylee, our court system doesn't convict on probably. It convicts on beyond a reasonable doubt. The fact remains that the public and the jury still don't really know how Caylee died and who was ultimately responsible. The prosecution had a circumstancial case and the defense raised too many questions. It is the prosecution's job to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt and they were unable to do so. Our justice system works based on the idea that our country would prefer 100 guilty men go free rather than one innocent man be convicted. That is the reason the bar for conviction is set so high. Sadly, our justice system did work here. It is the prosecution that did not work. And now Casey can never be tried for Caylee's murder again. They threw away our one shot at putting her where she belongs.

Mother, I see your point but Scott Peterson was convicted in similar circumstances. I think the difference lies in where the trial takes place. SP was tried in Redwood City, CA which is a pretty sophisticated silicon valley city full of highly educated people. Educated people know that even pretty people kill. If the trial had been held in Modesto, where the crime occurred, SP would have had a better chance of getting off. SP knew this and had commented on how dimwitted the people of Modesto can be (a lot of them are pretty dim and socially ignorant). That's why he thought he would get away with it. That and his wealthy mother didn't like Laci because she wasn't a waspy blond. Some twit juror would have been impressed by his looks, just like a lot of the male posters on this site were impressed with Casey's looks and the outcome might have been different. The bottom line is that lack of education and social ignorance are the culprits here.
