John Powell was just a total slimeball. To even think he could hatchet his son's is beyond comprehension. I find it very hard to forgive that action. As for missing Susan, I know he is the culprit, something happened, and somehow he was able to move her to the area he "camped" in.
As for the $7,000 withdrawal from BOA last Friday, I bet he used it to get high, that is the only reason he could have done what he did to his own son's. He is being judged from higher ups now. Or maybe lower downs, who knows. In my religion when you take an innocent life on purpose, that is grounds to spend eternity in damnation. I truly believe he deserves that sentence. May he never see the lights of heaven.
God Bless Chuck & Judy Cox, as well as the Powell family who were not against Chuck Cox and his pursuit to gain custody of Braden and Charlie, two little innocents.
There were a lot of mistakes done in this case, not the least of which is not informing the custodial parents of these children of the complete situation, but it should be automatic that if you are under investigation like that, your visitation is revoked for the duration of the investigation. They were aware of something, otherwise they wouldn't have had supervised visitation at all. All supervised visitation needs to be in the sheriffs office with armed guards. A case like this, it should have been automatic.
I don't understand how the judge was aware of the incestuous material, but not Mr. Cox or his lawyers. Had they known, they could have made it more obvious to the braindead judge that allowing the sons to stay in the Powell home was NOT a good idea! I thought when you went to court, all evidence had to be presented, especially something this important. Why the hell was this judge protecting Josh by not disclosing this very important information and keeping him from the kids??
This case just makes my heart and soul cry. A hatchet to his children? Really? This was one sick human being. The grandparents who had custody of these children should have been given full knowledge of Josh Powell's proclivities. The visitation should have taken place in a public place, not in his home. I am sure the authorities in my state of Washington will take a serious look at how to prevent this in the future.
It is not surprising Josh used the supervised visit to strike as he knew everyone was napping, since these visits had been made for several months already and he had shown everyone to be the perfect Dad.
Also at the last hearing he had made it very clear in his 6 page document, that he expected his boys to come home "it's taken long enough, it is time for my boys to come home" it read.
He never once considered, he wouldn't get his boys back so easily and you could see the shock on his face when a statement was read on behalf of the Coxs family, that the boys were happy and settling in well at their home.
I think that did his head in - the fact that the boys were happy at the Coxs home.
In his mind that wasn't supposed to happen and he made sure it wasn't going to continue.
My heart went out to Mrs. Powell's father. The fact that he was strong enough to go on tv when his daughter is missing and his granchildren were so brutally killed. Lester Holt, in my opinion, was callous - he interviewed him as if he were interviewing a presidential candidate or anyone else who is not going thru, most likely the darkest hours of his life. Lester did not once offer his condolences. Even after the father admitted that he was unaware of the facts of the case, Lester still did not appear sympathetic. Do me a favor Today producers, please allow Anne to give future interviews for people who are mourning, she is always so compassionate and loving.
i think if a parent like josh, or any parent is under suspicion of murder of ether the husband, or wife they the law should not aloud supervised visitation with the kids. josh should never had supervised visitation with the kids ever! if they suspected him as killing his wife.
Is Powell's lawyer's name public? Next to Josh Powell himself, I think he deserves runner up for slimeball of the year. How could he defend the indefensible?

I also believe that if he would have completely lost visitation rights (for whatever reason) he would have gotten to the boys anyhow.
Sorry to say this, but nothing short of an arrest for the murder of his wife would have stopped Josh from getting to these kids.
